Anyone used Gabapentin for anxiety?

My 1 year old male ragdoll just recently been diagnosed with FIC, and the vet put him on gabapentin, 25mg 2x a day for the next couple of weeks to help and to reduce his stress. I've noticed that he gets very sleep on this, and just kind of lays about. He also doesn't purr or do the kneading thing, and is much less affectionate because he's too busy napping. I miss my old kitty But his peeing has been better on it though. 

Did you mention to your Vet that all your boy does is sleep while on the Gabapentin?  I think it warrants a phone call, at minimum.  They might want to lower the dosage or something, who knows? 

I have heard of using Gabapentin short term, say to ease the stress of a Vet visit, but haven't heard of using it for a few weeks at a time as an anti-anxiety med.  But often they learn of using older drugs for new things.  Glad it's helping with his peeing issues at least.
