It's just me so my only plans are to somehow, somewhere get my teeth into some pumpkin pie.   Baking might take place.

I am going to my cousins for T-day...It is family, and hard to refuse especially when you live alone. I always do not look forward to it, however the dinner is always very good. My cousin's husband does the cooking. He is a good cook. The turkey is always moist.

The company is something else, though.. It is ok, but I have nothing in common with them.. but I guess that is family. I usually sit there and not say much of anything..

The part I dread is the ride to get there. It is south of me, taking around an hour or longer, depending of traffic thru Boston.

That is the bad part. I am very careful about drinking and driving. If I have a glass of wine, it is early and I do eat...

The pastries will be the same. My cousin does bake, but it is all packaged stuff ~~ nothing from scratch. Even the peanut butter blossoms are so different than the ones I grew up with. My mom made them from scratch. My cousin buys the dry mix...

Maybe this year, I will make a batch and show her how they are supposed to taste.. I am so bad.. She is a good hostess, but not so nice any other time of the year...

I really do not think I would mind staying home and cooking for myself. At least I would not have to worry about saying the wrong thing, being ignored.. and I could cook what I want and drink as much as I wish..  and watch what I want on TV, without the traditional football games on....

I think I may make a small chicken and the fixings on Friday or Saturday.. just for me.. I am not a turkey person...one meal is fine, but no more.. I also like dark meat.. do not care for the breast--too dry for me...

We are skipping the big meal (I think) since it's just going to be my little family.  I'm planning to utilize my crock pot somehow.  I may not even make a pie. Normally I do at least 4.  We will be thankful in our sweats and pjs.  I might do a turkey breast in the crock pot. I don't see the point in doing a whole turkey for 4 people.  I'm also considering a ham instead of a turkey.

Our plans are not made yet. We spend it with our son and his family. Sometimes she wants to have a meal at her home. Sometimes we meet at a restaurant. I let them call the shots and I show up wherever and with food in hand if necessary. :lol3:

We got a beautiful prime rib one year. It took me  a long time to figure out we only cooked turkey because you were supposed to. We never have it otherwise. On the other hand we have pumpkin or squash pie all the time. The best turkey I ever made had an apricot/ginger/garlic/honey glaze. But like I said my husband works every Thanksgiving. In fact we plan it that way so his family can't pester us.

There would be a lot less family drama if everyone had your attitude.

every holiday has to have a spread, in my family. My mom mentioned turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, noodles, rolls, root vegetables & a green salad & another main, probably chicken. For dessert it will be pumpkin pie, apple pie & pecan squares.

I'm kinda on special food & no one else eats like me so I usually do my own thing. I'll get a piece of turkey & have gravy & potatoes. I'll eat the veggies & then apple pie.

kittens mom kittens mom I have learned the important thing is being together with my family. I would meet them at a hamburger joint if that is what they wanted to do. They could make me a low carb burger without the bun and I would eat it or have a salad. If I get chance to spend the day with one of my kids, I am at their beck and call and go with the flow. Our holidays are always like that. I have seen some mothers who make a big stink and insist that the meal has to be at her home. I have learned that I can be happy wherever we are all together.

I forgot about a sweet potato casserole with walnuts, brown sugar and marshmallows. My mom usually makes a small thing of it since my brother and dad don't like it. More for us. She's diabetic so I usually get most of it.

Yes, Thanksgiving is my holiday that I have my family over for and cook a big meal. I've been working on the menu. :)

Mom doesn't really want to do a big Thanksgiving at our house this year (ok, "big" being relative here, lol). So we'll probably go to whoever invites us over. Have plenty of family and always get invited to one or more things. I also have cat sitting that day so probably won't be able to do a whole lot. I may go to a friend's party after my last sit of the day.

Well, since it may just be RIck's mom, Rick and me (maybe the friends I had mentioned before), I'm changing things around this year. Instead of doing the Good Eats Roast Turkey with the wet-brine, I'm going to try a recipe in my Southern Living magazine for a dry-brined sweet & spicy turkey. No crockpot stuffing for Thanksgiving; I'm trying a recipe for the dressing from the magazine, too. I may do dried corn and save the corn pudding for Christmas dinner.

I haven't told Rick's mother yet; she may revolt!
She's really big on the Good Eats Roast Turkey. But I'm up for a bit of a change and Rick looked through the recipes I want to try and he said to go for it. And this year, for the first time in forever, I'm going to do the turkey in the oven instead of our Nesco electric roaster (I think; that may still be subject to change).

Working on my menu now (I had it all figured out until I changed things around) and trying to figure out what I need from the store.
