So I orphaned a cat from my best friend she had 3 kittens left from a litter and the mother cat had disappeared. The kitten I got was a little black girl, they all had minor eye infections from being handled so much. They seemed to be about 4 weeks old. I brought my little Silhoue home and cleaned her eyes everyday for a few days and thy both seemed to heal almost completely. The right eye completely cleared up and the left stayed boogery. So I continued to clean it and it started getting worst and worst. It started to get cloudy and then had a layer of film over it like mucus sitting on the surface of the eyeball. I researched the problem because I can't go to the vet right now because we don't have the money for it and the best thing I could find was to order Terramycin off amaZon and wait for it to get here. The day I ordered the ointment my 4 month old kitten got ahold of Silhoues infected eye. She scratched it I think. I heard them playing and heard her start crying so I went in there and picked her up and she started flipping out in my arms and I knew immediately what had happened. So I looked at her eye and a blood vessel was hanging out of it so I cleaned it very very gently and a few hours later the vessel was gone but her upper eyelid was swollen and looked like it was inside out. The Terramycin came in today and I am about to apply it on there for the second time. The eye has gotten worst since she was scratched I'm not sure what's going to happen but I really hope my baby Silhoue doesn't go completely blind in that eye or have it removed but if the pain and infection goes away I'll be happy. The only thing I'm worried about is if I run out of ointment before it heals or if I stop the treatment too early and it gets bad again.

Yes, with bad eye infections its the vet.   You can try and clean off the mild infections, and try to cure the medium infections with terramycine ointment if you have this.

But if it goes bad the vet is a must.  Dont play funny games at home, unless you ARE knowleable with this.

Try to raise the money in some way. Or find a cheap vet. Perhaps one whom cooperates with the rescue groups and shelters nearby.

I didn't know this post went through until I got on here and posted again. I just want you all to know that it took less than a week for her eye to almost completely heal. Silhoue is partially blind in one eye, the eye that had the film over it and got scrathed by another kitten now has a small blue smear on the surface that covers maybe 1/8 her eye. If I'd found the teramycin sooner she'd probably be perfect, but she is the happiest kitty in the house and the only one who has full conversations with me. I am very grateful! If things hadn't gotten better within the first 2 days I would have had to given in and found some way to go to the vet. I did research on the product teramycin and it was said to heal almost anything wrong with a cats eye, even ulcers, so i figured it was worth a try. Thanks for your replies!!!
