I've posted a couple times now about our kitten "Animal." He'll be six months old, actually, on election day. He was a bottle fed kitten who was found without a mother or any siblings at just 2-3 weeks old. When we first brought him home he seemed healthy and was a typical happy and rambunctious kitten. Then the health problems started. He has now been to the vet numerous times in addition to his regular visits for initial rounds of shots. He has been treated for giardia twice now. The last fecal came back normal. He was then treated for a bacterial intestinal infection and that finally cleared up. Now, all of the sudden last night, he urinated on our kitchen floor. He's never gone outside of the litter box before. He also just hasn't ever been as playful as he was when we first brought him home. Ever since he got sick the first time, he tends to sleep all day long & that worries me. I know that crystals and urinary tract infections can be quite common in male cats. My question is, can they have them at such a young age? I've done everything to make sure I'm keeping stuff clean and disinfected. I scoop litter boxes every day, clean and disinfect them every week, and do the same with food and water bowls.
He is a suckler. We've successfully redirected this to receiving blankets but he also does it to a stuffed teddy bear. I've been really good about washing everything he sucks on regularly and making sure he's not ingesting anything while doing it. I've taken his temperature and its not high. I've even given him extra fluids (Pedialyte) today. I have been giving him goats milk about once a week as I was told it helps replace some of the nutrients he missed as a result of being separated from his mother. Any suggestions? I want to do everything I can for my kitty and I love him dearly but I'm struggling with paying for constant vet visits. I also have two other cats who have multiple health problems as well so, its just adding up. I never thought I would have a kitten with so many problems!
If he does it again I'll get him to the vet as soon as I can afford to but, in the meantime, does anyone have any advice?
