I've been getting 5 lb boneless ground chicken/turkey/beef from Hare Today along with 1lb ground organs and mix that together with Alnutrin before portioning. Could I do the same except with chunks? Would that be the same effect? I would think so, right..??

The recipe on the back of the Alnutrin package calls for 4 lbs boneless meat, 1 lb ground organs, and however much of Alnutrin. So if I just got 2 of the 2 lb boneless cubes, could I just get the 1 lb organs and just make it the same as I always have with the ground?

I'm looking to give my cats some variety in texture rather than just ground meat all the time. Figured it's probably better for their teeth, too. Maybe eventually go on to Frankenprey ..but maybe not. I'm sure my cats could handle it, not me.

Let me know pleaseeee before I make my order.

Also, if I get the meat/bone/organ ratio to 80/10/10 do I need to still add a supplement? Or is it good to go?

I would call the Alnutrin folks and ask them if it will mix up with chunks, because it's obviously a whole different consistency. Or talk to Tracy at Hare-Today.   With the ground, don't you also add in some water?  Sorry, it's been so long I honestly can't remember, and when I started feeding chunks, instead of using organ chunks, I used Call of the Wild.

As to your second question, if you are doing the 80/10/10 ration, you don't need to use Alnutrin, but people still use supplements, just different ones...fish oils, etc.

So do you think if I just got the ground meat/bone/organ chubs I could just add the correct amount of cubed meat and ground organ to dilute the bone?

I may have misspoken on the 80/10/10 ratio.   I always used the Alnutrin WITH calcium.  I just looked up to see there is another Alnutrin product to be used when you are adding in bones yourself.  Of course you would NOT use the one with calcium in it, but you could use this other one if you wanted to.

As to your latest question, yes, if you are ordering a particular protein that has too much ground bone in it, you can certainly  add in cubed meat to bring down that amount.  I sometimes just gave my furkids plain chunks of meat whenever I thought they were getting too much bone (based on seeing them straining to go potty
)

So if I got the meat with bone in it and got it to an 80/10/10 ratio I wouldn't need to add any alnutrin without calcium...? Right?

They are recommending you still use the OTHER Alnutrin even when adding in your own bones. As I said, originally I misspoke about possibly not needing it.  It doesn't have to be Alnutrin though, but you would still need to add in some supplements, unless you are feeding whole live prey.  It's really up to you.  Here are some others thoughts on this topic:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/312874/do-i-need-to-supplement-with-whole-ground-prey

I add boneless meat to the bone/meat/organ grinds (to thin out the bone content) in the form of chunks, and have no problem mixing up supplements.  I'm using 2 lbs chunks with a total of 3 lbs ground, but I think it would be fine to use a higher proportion of chunks.  The supplements get mixed into the ground part mainly, so you do have to be careful to maintain the chunks/ground proportion when you feed.

Alternatively, you could simply feed the ground and chunks in different meals instead of mixing them.   If I meal-fed my cats that's how I would do it.

One more bit of advice:  start with small pieces, gradually increase the size, and have patients with your cats - they may regurgitate the chunks or ignore them until they get used to eating them.
