My boyfriend and i just brought two kittens home two days ago. They were both so happy and playful when they got home. Then one is showing symptoms of stomatitis. She hasnt eaten all day and shes going on day two. The other kitten has been sleeping and breathing fast all day. Ive tried putting them near their food bowls. He licked a little food from my finger. We cant bring them to the vet until tomorrow, but im really worried about them. I didnt know they shouldnt have milk, but they've barely eaten any of it. We have regular cat food and they were eating when they got home. One of them, the one thats only me sleeping could have over eaten. Please! Any suggestions on dealing with getting them fed until they get to the vet?
Im thinking of getting a syringe.
Over the past two days, we have washed the sleepy one. We didnt wet his head. We only washed his coat and brushed him out. Could he have a cold?
I dont want to ignore it and lose my kittens.

I'm not an expert, and have never had very young kittens, but from what I hear, kittens could have a number of things.

Were they treated for anything before you got them?  Worms, etc?

My cat, though much older at the time, perhaps two or three years old, had a seizure after I gave her a bath just from stress.  I was worried sick, took her to the vet, they kept her over night and gave her electrolytes and she was okay.  Like I said, not an expert, though.

As for not eating, if they'll lick it off your finger, I'd go ahead and do that, but I wouldn't worry as much about food as I would water.  Will they lick water off your finger?

I don't think milk could have gotten them that sick, probably just given them diarrhea.

I'm glad you'll get them to the vet tomorrow, though.  Probably would be best to take them as soon as possible.

They wont drink water at all either. Thats my main concern
I tried using a damp sponge and the tip of a zip lock baggie. The girl, Arya will crawl on me if i put her on my lap. Shell also bunt me, but she has a bunch of droll coming from her mouth. She needa a bath. Would that make her worse? I cleaned her teeth too and the drolling isnt too bad but it hasnt stopped.

How old are the kittens? Where did you get them? Did you get any kind of health history on them?

Small kittens wouldn't have stomatitis. That takes time to develop. And it is almost impossible that a young kitten can overeat. There are other infections that cause drooling and appetite loss. The only thing you can do until you can get them to a vet is keep them warm and try to get some nourishment into them. I use syringes for assisted feeding - can you get some KMR (kitten replacement milk) from a pharmacist or petshop? Failing that some 'cat food soup' of cat food blended into a liquid. Or just water if everything else fails - if you are getting them to a vet tomorrow they should be all right till then. But no longer than that. They could have an upper respiratory infection that prevents them smelling the food, so they won't eat, and could also cause fast breathing and drooling. They will need anti-biotics to deal with that, if it is the case, but do get to the vet.

Im sure that she does have it. She smells like bad breath. I just dont want to aggitate her by washing her until after the vet. Ive read that kittens get stomatitis... It isnt exactly the desiese that bigger cats will get... Just because her teeth are still coming through. She also had a pale spot on the tip of her tongue. It looks weird. Their appt is at 4 so ill just be feeding them water with a sponge until then. Alfie seemed to deal when i did that this morning. Any suggestions on getting stuburn kittens to eat abd drink? Theyre kind of fighting it

One will drink from a small chunck of sponge. Hes meowing everytime he moves and looks like hes in pain. The only thing the shelter hadnt tested them for was fip so they have a 30 day warrajty where theyll pay for our vet visit. With that being said, im sure that they were as healthy as they could have been when he brought them home. Theyve both been fixed lol and still have the shave marks to prove it. The only shots they need are rabies and their second leukemia shot which isnt due for a couple of weeks.
