Hi all!  I've noticed lately that Kit seems to prefer chunky food: she will devour most of the can of Sheba "cuts" chicken/turkey, whereas she pokes at (over a few hours) the Pate of these flavors.  I know that the recommendation when buying these cheaper foods is to stick with the Pate/Classic, but I seem to be tossing more and more of the Pate style, at least in the Sheba.  She didn't care for FF when I tried that a few weeks ago, but I have been thinking about trying to re-introduce it.

The Sheba "cuts" aren't overloaded with gravy, like lots of the other "cuts" kinds are; and if I am not mistaken I think that have a "minced" which would still give her "pieces".  For now I have to feed 60/40 cheap/better instead of better/cheap, I just want to fee her the best I can with the $$ I have.

Thoughts?

Can you try mixing the cuts with the pate?  That way you are giving her half "good" and half "less good" food
It's true that the cuts and minced do have more carbs than the pates, at least in the Sheba and Fancy Feast, and in just about every food I can think of off the top of my head.

yep, I can certainly try that!  I do also 50% of the time add some freeze dried raw Boost Mixer stuff, all crushed up and with some water added.  I also have some instinct dry that I use for treats (when she lets us cut her nails) that I throw in there too.  All told she might get about 2T of dry food a day, or about 1/4 of the serving size of the Boost Mixers.  I am finding that she just really likes the chunkier food.

When I can afford it, her absolute favorite is PRIDE by Instinct minces: rabbit, duck, lamb, chicken.  I don't find those to be too filled with "gravy" though, at least not in my opinion.  I wonder though if those are high in carbs as well, like the junky food?

The Pride Instinct Minces are a little better than the less expensive foods when I put them into my carb calculator.

Do you ever try to purchase cases on-line.  Sometimes it's a lot less expensive doing it that way.  Quite a few of us order thru Chewy.com
