I've recently realized my cat loosing hair right above his eye. I see him licking his paw and rubbing it often. I'm not sure if he's doing that because it's bothering him or if he's just grooming himself and actually causing it! My other cat also has one in between his shoulders but it's growing back and looks like it may have been from a fight. Should I be concerned about this?

What a sweet little kitty.

It is most likely that something has been bothering your cat that he has been rubbing and grooming this area more than usual.  The fur loss could be due to lots of different things, as could any skin irritation, including allergies or some kind of mite or fungal infection.  It is best to let a vet take a look, and if theh think necessary take a closer look at the skin to see if anything is visible under close examination . microscope.   That way they can prescribe if something needs to be treated.

I seem to remember something like this happening to one of my pets growing up... I'm fairly sure it was due to a fungal infection and cleared right up with a topical cream the vet prescribed. If it gets any larger, the skin's appearance is changing, or it just doesn't go away I would say you should definitely get him into a vet. If it is a fungal Infection it almost certainly isn't life threatening, but could spread to your other cats and potentially you depending on the exact fungus.

Thank you for the responses! It has spread a bit closer to the ears and skin doesn't look to well. I'm thinking about trying a flea bath or spray first before the vet to see if that's the issue, I do see them often on his face
