So I wasn't sure whether this is appropriate for cat behaviour but I'm hoping someone can please help me !!!
Basically, my house sold and we only had a few days notice to move out (long story short)..as it's out first time moving house with my cat whose lived with us for 6 years, we didnt think it would be a problem moving him to another house and we werent sure what to expect, so we decided to move the furniture first and move him last...
After the furniture was done, we gave the keys to the new owners as they kept badgering us.
Now we had to take our cat...He was outside and it's like he knew and was scared. He wouldn't let us come near him and kept running away whilst miawing alot. We tried for an hour to get him in the cat carrier but we couldnt even get close enough to pick him up even, he just keeps running away and countinued to for the hour :(
we left him a couple of hours and returned back to my old neighbourhood and searched for him, we found him in the same spot and still he keeps running away and won't let us touch him, let alone put him in a carrier...I think he is extremely frightened which is unusual as we have had him for many years and are extremely loving towards him.

Obviously we know we made the mistake and should've taken Tommy (our cat) before anything and whilst he was in the house...
Now he's in the streets near my old house and refuses to come in the cat carrier. I feel extremely bad leaving him outside any longer but literally don't know what to do.

If anyone has any advice, please help us.

Get yourself a humane trap & trap him that way. Google this kind of trap. You are VERY lucky he has not run away. Act quickly now.
