so here is a little background info. the cat I currently have wasn't always mine, my step dad got her from a rescues for my mom not sure how only she is if she was human I would say late 30s maybe 40s. but anyways when my mom had her she hid from everyone but my mom. then my mom passed away and I moved her to my house and almost instantly she latched on to me. well now its been almost a year to the month, and now that's when we are having a problem?

so I noticed it before I went to work last night she was sleeping next to her food dish and it looked like she hadn't eaten anything so I moved her to a more comfortable spot and put some new food and water by her. when I got home this morning it looked like she didn't eat and moved again. so I went searching for her. founded her in my room I got changed and picked her up, moved to the living room were we always meet and I loved on her. I thought she was trying to reassure me because she loved on me like she always does so we spent some time together this morning I laid done to get a little sleep and she slept on my hip like always. but I woke up and she moved to another chair and now its been a couple hours and she hasn't moved to eat drink or come love on me, I don't know if I should be worried or not? or should I just be patient and just watch her?

sorry don't know what to do I actually love this cat and I will be heartbroken if I lose her to.

It sounds like she is sick. Cats are notorious for hiding illness and typically the first (or only in minor illness) signs are changes in behavior that can be similar to what you describe.

Make sure you actually see her eat something at least once every 24 hours (human meat baby food with no onion or garlic usually works for me with sick kitties refusing food). As long as she isn't showing any other symptoms and is using the litter box, eating and drinking you can give her a few days to see if it will pass on its own.

If you go past a few days and she isn't better you need to go to the vet. My girl twice now has had illness of an unknown cause. Both times I took her in right away (because I tend to be paranoid and her entire litter died of a mysterious illness shortly after I got her) and they did fluids, antibiotic shot, and B12 and she was back to normal within a week (about $120 each time). Think of it as giving the cats body a boost to help get over the hump and feeling better.

I would tempt her with whatever you think she would like. You can syringe water into her. You can also syringe feed her as well if she still refuses. She does need to see vet.
