My cat had her first litter 4 and a half weeks ago, she gave birth on my bedroom floor and I just let her lie there with her newborn kittens with lots of blankets and towels but after a few days she moved them to under my bed. Today I tried moving the kittens to a new spot where they will be safer as they are starting to explore now but mum cat just keeps taking them back under the bed? I would rather they were somewhere safer but is there any way I can stop my cat from moving her babies?

I think it is some sort of maternal instinct in the feline world.

I would let mom make the decision. Your will upset her if you move them. I think she knows what is best for them right now. Are you planning to have her fixed soon?

Yeah I've just let her keep them where she wants now. Thank you

No worries. Momma cat wants only to protect the little ones. The tiny kittens need protection. Later momma cat may move them again, so that the food would be closer.
