The Bowling Green Shelter has 135 cats and dogs that need homes. They spay/neuter all dogs and cats before they leave. They also accept sponsorship to help get their animals adopted...if anyone can help spread the word and get some of these animals into rescue or good homes...it would be very much appreciated.

P.S. Does anyone know someone looking for a Russian Blue Mix...Liz just looks sooooo sad:

Cat
Russian Blue,Domestic Short Hair-gray Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Sex: Female
I.D: AC-CR

Notes:

Liz is becoming depressed here, no one sees her since she chooses to hide and sleep in her litterbox instead of come out to see someone walking by since she has been passed by so many times now. Please come meet this gentle girl, you'll love her!
Liz is a 1-2 year old russian blue mix w/ bright green eyes. She's a bit shy at first but warms up quickly and is super sweet and filled w/ purrs. She would do well w/ other cats and children but is scared of dogs. So an adjustment period is definitely needed. Please offer this gorgeous girl a loving and warm home.

This shelter does accept sponsorship for the cats and dogs..it helps to make them adoptable. Please help if you can...another shelter that accepts sponsors is:

http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/WV39.html

If anyone is interested, they now have a PayPal account and can accept donations and sponsorships through this. Donations and sponsors can be made in any amount, even $1-$5 will help. A fully vetted canine is $80 (spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations (rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella), worming, and heartworm testing). A fully vetted feline is $60 (spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations (rabies, FVRCP), worming, and combo testing for feline Leukemia and Aids (FeLV/FIV)). By sponsoring an animal, this will allow the animal to be adopted more easily to local residents. It is also ONE guarantee that THIS animal will NOT be adding to the over population of pets.

After making either a donation or sponsor payment, please send an e-mail letting them know who the payment is for.

I only live a few counties away from Bowling Green an my news station covers several of the counties in KY including Warren. They just got a no-kill shelter built a few months ago and have transfered many of the high-rish animals to it. Problem is there are so many animals at both shelters that the high-risk animals that need the shelter cant go there because it's full. It's really a problem and its sad. The saddest thing is even though its only a few of counties away from me, I'd never have heard a thing about that if it wasnt for watching the news that night. I think it would help if there was a way to get more awarness or advertising about the problem, but unfortunately there's not enough money for that either. It's so sad.

I just got word that Liz the depressed cat got adopted...woohoo. There are many, many others that could use a forever home or even a sponsor:

Keifer

Garth

Duke

OJ2

Jake

If you can spare $30, you can sponsor a cat and help it find a home.

Sponsoring a pet enables our shelter to help more animals in need that would otherwise be euthanized due to lack of space. Your donation can be used to sponsor a pet by lowering their adoption fee in hopes that he or she can find a home more quickly hence offering the shelter MORE room for the next pet in search of a home.

If you would like to sponser a pet.....(we only allow up to 1/2 of the adoption fee to be sponsored, the adopter MUST pay at least 1/2 of the adoption fee)......Please Email: [email protected] and let her know which pet you would like to sponsor.
How to Sponser a BGWC Humane Society Pet:

1. Call the shelter @ 270-783-9404 and sponsor a pet via credit card

2. Mail a check to:
Bowling Green Warren Co. Humane Society
Attn: Sponsoring (Name of Pet)
P.O. Box 1456
Bowling Green, KY 42102

3. Use the Email Address: [email protected] for PayPal Donations

([email protected] is the Director of the shelter's e-mail address)
If the pet you wish to sponsor is adopted out before your sponsor donation is received, that donation will go to sponsor another pet in need of help!

Thank you

Katie

I just contacted Bowling Green and they were sooooo nice. Deana who works there told me that when a cat is sponsored it doesn't get euthanized...which is yet more encouragement to sponsor.
