Ok, I am sure this has been covered here before but maybe a while ago.

I've had my Rival slow cooker for eons. It's served me well but I really want something with better controls now; maybe a browning feature and certainly with longer cook and warm cycles. Mine is really basic. Plus, I've noticed the interior of the cooker is starting to discolor.

Every time I decide on one I start reading the reviews and then get scared off. I'm willing to spend a good amount of money on it if need be.

Has anyone bought one recently that can comment and advise?

I just bought an Instant Pot.  I haven't received it yet but it has a strong following.

I have been making bone broth and my electric bill was up $30 possibly from simmering each batch 24 hours on the stove.

I've had more than a few people recommend the Instant Pot.

I'll take another look at it!

FYI, unlikely your electric bill would go up that much from an appliance that small.  We have a 2nd fridge running and it barely impacted my rates.

You know, I've heard a lot of good things about the Instant Pot. When my old cooker bites the dust, I'll probably look into the Instant Pot, too. But I'm really hoping that doesn't happen for a long, long time.

Give me some time and I'll check America's Test Kitchen's reviews on slow cookers. I can't do it online because I don't have an online account with them. I'll have to go through my magazines.

I had to replace my slow cooker back in the spring when the lid of mine broke in two and it was almost as expensive to buy a new lid (with shipping) as a new one.

I went with another Crockpot.  I picked this one because you could set the times in 30 minute increments and it has a warm cycle once the cook time finishes.  I've used it quite a bit and like it. My only complaint would be that it gets quite hot and boils for most of the cook time, though I've read that newer ones get hotter than the older ones.
