Wow.  Been a long strange day.   Usually something that happened during the day will suggest a question but I'm drawing a blank, so I'm going to cheat.  We're going to reverse last week's question,

Is there a particular household chore that you really, truly, secretly enjoy?

I love to iron.  I don't know exactly why, but it is almost a zen experience for me.  I love the smell of the hot fabric, and the feel of the iron in my hands.  I love seeing the wrinkles disappear and become smooth.

I used to love ironing too :lol3: I've been banned from doing it now though - my hands don't always work/grip properly (reynauds mainly), and after I managed to break the iron after repeatedly dropping it my parents said enough was enough! :lol3: Its not safe for the animals either....I dread to think what would've happend if a cat or dog had been in the wrong place at the wrong time :disturb::cringe::bawling:

OK, you're all going to hate me for this but I actually enjoy all cleaning.

Every morning I get up, have a really strong cup of coffee and spend about 2 hours cleaning the house from top to bottom.  Admittedly I spend the two hours muttering about grubby, destructive felines and messy husbands who were obviously raised by wolves, but I think I enjoy the complaining as much as I enjoy the cleaning.

Once I'm done I have a hot shower and then do yoga in my nice clean house.

Other than doing dishes, I'm fine. I don't mind cleaning, for the most part, but I have to be in the mood. I love to get up in the morning, throw open all the windows to a gorgeous sunny day and then spend the morning cleaning house and making dinner, knowing that when it's all done, I can go outside.

Some of my shirts must be ironed and I'll do that without complaining.

Is cooking a chore? If so, then I like to cook. I'd rather cook than clean. If somebody would like to come clean my house, I will cook for you.

I actually draw a blank trying to think of something I enjoy doing that involves housework! I 'enjoy' the feeling of satisfaction that comes when I have cleaned for two days before company comes, it can't be done too long before they arrive, because I have cats that shed and eat by shoving plates around the floor dropping bits of food everywhere, and a husband that doesn't  understand the need to put things back when he uses them. But I love them all, so it's something you overlook.  I get more satisfaction from a newly weeded flowerbed or a just mown lawn. I am finally getting an upper hand on the weeds that have plagues me for years, now if I can find something that really works for moles I would be oh so happy! PS, I have pulled 4 moles out of the ground this year, three more than my cats! I'm sure I look like a lunatic grubbing around in the lawn on my hands and knees, but now I know how the cats feel when they score a mouse!

I agree, there is not one thing I enjoy about cleaning..

I love having a clean house, but physically cleaning is really a dislike of mine.

I'd like to just hire someone to cook and clean. I'd be creating a job for someone and adding to the local economy.

Is napping a chore? I like that!

I do enjoy doing my laundry. I bought the Speed Queen three years ago and I love it more and more every time I use it. I love cooking anything that makes me use my Kitchen Aid mixer.
I love it all when everything is clean, dusted, mopped, polished. I get a high when I realize all the ironing is done. :lol3: I would rather clean toilets than iron. But I am on a mission now to iron anything that needs it as soon as it is dry, rather than stacking them in a laundry basket.

Simply put. No.

If I could afford someone to come in every day to clean I'd gladly do so.

You know, my husband has tried to get me to hire somebody. I won't go there. I want things done how I want them done. My experience is cleaning people do it like they want to. Not only that, but I would really have to trust somebody a lot to turn them loose in my house doing anything. :lol3:

I can't think of one thing.  I love having everything clean but I don't like anything about the actual cleaning.

I have to admit that this reflects my opinion also.  While I am rarely completely happy with the way professional do things, it still means I didn't have to.  We're always home when we hire someone (we have a few deep cleanings per year done by cleaning services) so it's easy to keep on top of them and, at the end of the service they always ask you to go over all the rooms to be sure it was done to your satisfaction.  I have  had to have them come back on occasion but those were the times only my partner was home.  His eyesight stinks LOL.

I love cleaning out and organizing drawers, cupboards, and closets. It gives me such a sense of satisfaction when everything is neat and tidy and useless items thrown out or donated. That said, I don't do it very often!

I'm curious, what do you do with the moles after you catch them?

Gosh I'm trying really hard.  I sort of like dusting; if there isn't a lot of clutter in the way.  Washing the cabinets can be good; again if there isn't clutter in the way.

When I was younger (as in still living at home) I'd go through my closet and drawers once a year.  I rarely got rid of much; but I'd sort it and at least know what was in there.  I would still enjoy doing that if I could just do it all in one sitting.  I hate stopping and starting projects; so I tend not to start.  I've had to learn to be satsified with breaking things down into more manageable chunks.  Like sort my desk today, counters another.
