Hey All!
I've had Jacque for about two months,(adopted her from a shelter), she's about two and a half months old.
She seems to have a stinky smell, (never been bathed by me).
I was wondering what kind of shampoo would be best for a bath, and how often to bathe her.
I know cats typically bathe themselves, just wanted to get thoughts and feedback.

Thank y'all.

What are you feeding her? Sometimes the food quality reflects in the cat's smell.

If you want to bathe her, I recommend a shower instead - best is a shower stall you can close- so she feels less than she's drowning but more like being in the rain. She most probably will be terrified anyway. So better don't do it if you don't really have to.

In ways of shampoo, there are lots of cat shampoos out there. Either one of those or a baby shampoo, and be sure to rinse it off completely because she will ingest whatever is left.

I had to bathe Grisou recently because he apparently fell asleep on fresh cow manure. We have a cat shampoo that says it's against itchy coats and smells heavenly, or at least better than dried cow manure. He bawled pitifully during the process but forgave me in a matter of hours

I use baby shampoo on my cats just in case it gets in their eyes . I sometimes use baby wipes or waterless pet shampoo to freshen them up.
Nice of you to adopt little kitty Jacque. All the best to you.

Depending on the extent and area of her "dirtiness", you might want to try something like KittiWipes or a natural waterless cat bath.

I have used Espree natural Kitten shampoo, although I doubt if there is much difference between brands, It seems to be gentle on the kitty though and gets rid of smells just fine. You may have to wash her several times, the smell may be sticky. Generally I would bathe a cat every few weeks or something, depending on whether she goes outdoors or not.
