I'm new to owning cats and I adopted a couple kittens a few weeks ago. Midna is a Bombay and Katara is a Snowshoe. They're both about 4 months old. I've been having a few issues with them.

- They both keep having diarrhea. They keep relieving themselves outside of their litter box. This morning I reached out to pet Katara and my hand came back covered in poo. Her bottom was filthy and she made no effort to clean it. Midna does this too. I'm getting poo stains all over my house. I get their bottoms wet and they start to clean themselves. Or I wipe them off with a washcloth. But they hate it when I do this and it still keeps happening.

- Katara constantly unleashes her claws on people: when they try to pick her up, let her lay on their laps or play with her. Because of this, people like her a lot less than Midna. She also bullies Midna. She muscles her away from the food dish so Midna can't eat any of the wet food and other goodies on top. She pounces on Midna when she's sleeping and bites her hard on the tail and head. Midna's growling and laying her ears back but she's not really doing anything to get Katara to back off.

- The kittens aren't getting along with our sheepdog, Magnum. He's friendly and calm around them but when they're in the same room Midna hides and Katara hisses at him. So the poor dog ends up hiding too. Any advice?

Have they been treated for worms or other parasites? Have you changed their food recently? Are you using the same kind of litter as they had in their old home, before you adopted them? Do they ever use the litter box?

I'd try feeding them on different sides of the room and block Katara if she tries to come to Midna's side to steal her food.

Yes, they've been treated for worms and parasites. I haven't asked about the food and litter brands that they used in their last environment. I would have to ask. They usually use the litter box but sometimes they poo a couple feet away from the box.

I can try out that method for Midna and Katara. Thanks!

In that case, try adding some probiotic powder or some plain canned pumpkin to their food to help firm up their stool. Any time they poo outside of the box, be sure to clean the spot thoroughly with enzyme cleaner to remove the smell. Also, try adding another box. If your kittens aren't getting along they may not be happy to share a box.
