Please can you help, my head is spinning with the maths!
I am from the uk and recently emailed Encore cat food to find out the phosphorus levels in their chicken and brown rice pouches. My Bengal has early CKD, she is 6 and I am struggling with all the renal diets. But at the moment she is happy to eat this. I know the protein content is high but, I am just happy she is eating something!
They emailed me back to say there is 0.9mg/100g. Each pouch is 70g. The moisture content is 82%. So how do I work it all out? Is this low?

Hi, and welcome to TCS :wavey: I'm sorry its not for a happier reason, though :hugs:

I can't remember the actual phosphorus content offhand, but I know that Terra Faelis is very low phosphorus - even though it's not sold as a renal food. You can get it from Zooplus (probably my favourite online pet store ;) ). You could try Kattovit Renal or Integra Protect Renal from there too.

I think you want to be looking at a phosphorus content of less than 0.9% per 100g, and ideally 0.7% or lower.

Do please remember that Encore is a supplementary food, NOT a complete one. If that's your primary food, your girl will most likely end up with all kinds of deficiencies - some of them dangerous.

Good luck. I hope you find a diet your cat and her kidneys are equally happy with very soon :cross::vibes:
