With winter coming we have to change some litterbox routines because we will not heat the whole house and we do not want the cat to stay on the cold side of the house. We will obviously have to keep the doors shut for heat to stay in the heated rooms. Currently the cat's litterbox is on the area that will not be heated during winter, so we have to move it inside the rooms where we spend our days. But to do that our best option would be a closed litterbox and crystal litter. In other words, I am planning of buying a new closed litterbox and using crystal litter on it.
Currently in use: Open litterbox, clay litter, location: bathroom.
Plan: Closed litterbox, crystal litter, planned location: living room.
What would be the best approach to achieving that? Maybe starting off with closed litterbox and clay litter then as clay litter gets spent add crystals to replace it slowly?
Has anyone else done something like this before? What have you done? What has worked? Etc...
Any info will be welcome,
Thank you.
