Ok, before I start I want to preface this question with my understanding that onions are toxic to cats. I would never, and have never given either of my furry babies onions to eat.
Despite the fact that they've never even tried onions, every time I break out the knife and cutting board and start chopping at the vegetable for my dinners or lunches, my two kitties come sprinting into my tiny kitchen, circle my legs and initiate meow-mode. They act like adorable vultures! They're so desperate for a bite that they try jumping up on the counter, despite the fact they know they're not allowed up there, and paw at my legs, my older cat tries to kill me with kindness and headbumps me over and over.
This is the only vegetable they do this for, they do occasionally get excited when I break out other foods, but they are never quite this excited for anything else.
Is this normal behavior for cats? Or are my babies just really weird?
