I'm so sorry about the cancer dx. Try not to freak about the second one. The vet will tell you for sure.

How devastating! Get the second cat checked out right away. You sound like you might have bad luck like me. I don't know if this story will help you at all, but I will try.

I had two dogs, and my pit bull had a load of health problems from previous abuse. Long story short, he got a very aggressive prostate cancer and didn't survive. My German shepherd got mast cell tumor (MCT), a cancer, right before the pit bull died. I empathize having 2 cancer pets simultaneously. He was eating Orijen at the time because raw was just too much. I put him back on raw as soon as I could because he was getting quite sick. I couldn't afford treatment after my pit bull died. He had 2 tumors, and over time on zero carbohydrates and supplements like turmeric paste/high EPA oil, etc, one went away completely and the other shrank some. He should have been gone by January with the kind he had, but he's doing well today. He gets nauseous sometimes because of histamine from his tumor, but other than that, he is his normal energetic and happy self. People think he's a puppy, when he's 9 years old with cancer in remission.

Carbs are cancer food. Tumors make large blood vessels to suck sugars (carbs) to grow. Sugar speeds up cell devision. If your cats aren't eating raw already, you might want to research it. It should at least slow the growth of the tumor(s). Your vet will probably disagree with this sort of diet unless they are holistic. Don't give up hope yet but stay realistic. If you are already feeding a carb free raw diet, you could still maybe try a holistic vet who knows Chinese herbs (or even if they don't).

Look into supplements that cats can take for cancer, and anything special for the specific kind of cancer. For example, because of histamine release by my dog's MCT, he can no longer have fish or cooked food because it has more histamines. Your cat(s) will have different specific considerations. It's a lot of information to take in when you start digging, which you might know already, but worth it to give your kitties more comfort and time. I hope my response was helpful in some way, and I hope your kitties have the best outcome possible in this situation.

My son makes the turmeric paste for his arthritic dog and it seems to have worked really well. You may want to Google and see what it can do for cats.

You don't need to put them down until their quality of life starts to suffer. How are they now?

If they are acting like they aren't terribly sick, is it possible to try a no carb diet? Vets in my area don't believe in such a diet and our only holistic vet quit, but cancer's glucose metabolism and rate of cell division is well documented in science. It's called the Warbug Effect. The rate of glycolysis can be up to 200 times higher than normal cells, which is their source of food, so they are basically carbohydrate fiends. If you don't feed them, they have a hard time pulling glucose from other sources, so their growth rate is drastically reduced as the cancer cells starve. Normal cells have other metabolic pathways to rely on, and aren't negatively impacted. An all meat/bone/organ diet costs less than euthanasia. Of course if they suffer, euthanasia is best. I just thought I'd give you a scientific explanation to show you it's not quackery or pure luck, and you can Google to confirm if you want. That said, ultimately it is your decision what to do with your cats. I wish you and your cats well.
