Will my cat remember me?

After having him for only two months, sadly, my 6 month old kitty Oliver will need to stay with family for a bit. Unbeknownst to me, I cannot have 2 cats in my apartment; I made the decision to keep my skittish/shy cat Penny at home, and have my friendly/outgoing kitty Oliver temporarily rehomed. I feel just awful, like I'm abandoning him. I know he'll have a great temporary home, but I am extremely sad.
Hopefully it will only be for about 6 months or so until I can save up to move. I am worried that since Oliver is so young he'll forget me. He's extremely cuddly and snuggle and slept with me every night. I am planning on visiting every couple months, but I'm scared he won't remember me. Anyone have experience with this?

I think he will remember you.

Yet I think he will also fall in love with your family, who will be taking care of him, for the next 6 months.

Try to think of it,...as sharing him with your family, and that he will have a great home, too.

Then it may not make it as sad for you, knowing he is well taken care of, and happy, too.

That makes me feel sooooo much better, thank you!

Why not offer your landlord a sum of money to keep Oliver? If you're a good tenant, he might consider this. Next time, read your lease agreement, but this may be a solution for now.

Yes, I realize I should have read my lease first and I realize it's my own fault.
I did offer money to keep him, unfortunately my landlord declined. Thanks for the suggestion.
