Greetings fellow feline owners.

I just adopted a 8-week old kitten from nearby rescue center. His a domestic medium hair breed and is very active/playful and mostly healthy. I am a complete novice at raising cats but will do my best.

Our problem is that his very claw-ry and bites a lot when we play with him. I assume this is play aggression. Maybe because he didnt learn his manners from his cat mum?

He likes to swipe and bite at our hands and feet. We tried to discourage the behaviour by stopping play sessions but he still continues.

How should we discipline him and teach him not to claw and bite at humans?

Appreciate the help and thanks in advance!

that's what cats especially kittens do. if you stick your hands around them, when it's play time, they will play. I would get some cat toys, get the string with a feather on the end & then you can play with him & he will know. when he calms down & is ready to sleep, then you can pet him & I'm sure he'll start purring.

basically kittens are like little kids & they'll do things you don't want them to do, most grow out of it. if you continue to egg her on & play aggressively with your hands, then they'll learn to do that & they'll continue even when they're adults.

like my dad likes to play rough, he'll stick his big hands on my kitten belly & rub her until she bites at his hand & kicks with her back legs. now that she's an adult, he does the same thing & she only bites at his hand, doesn't hold on & kick really. that's because when I pet her, I don't want to get bit so if she starts trying to hold onto me, I just let go
