I went to the grocery store as I unloaded groceries Mr copper was trying to urinate..5 min I want to help him. He loves his water fountain, and running. So I went to get this in hopes it will help,Tomlyn Natural Pet Pharmaceuticals Urinary Tract Irritations Homeopathic Cat Supplement, 4-oz bottle. How long does it take to see results, I also gave him tuna and mitolax, this is 2x a week as stool is hard. Copper wants to play and has fun but I am worried, suggestions.... this is not the first time, earlier in the week this happened then he appeared just fine.

I really think you need to get your boy to the vet as soon as possible. This is an urgent situation if Copper is either straining or unable to urinate. He needs to be seen by a vet right away. Homeopathic remedies will not make him better.

Good luck and please take Copper to an emergency vet. [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

He attempted to go and a little came out, he's rambunctious and wants to play. I asked the vet the last time and he said I need to give him mitolax, laxative but my worry is the urination. When this happened two mornings ago he finally went and filled the litter, large clumps. I have two cats and watch him as he goes to the box. I tried to help by palpatating the bladder but that being new he wasn't pleased. I need more ideas as there are no vets open here.

When is the earliest you can get Copper to the vet?   It sounds like he has a UTI and needs antibiotics and treatment for the pain.  Anti-spasmodics are often used for this purpose.    The fact that he's rambunctious and still wants to play is a good sign, however keep a close eye on his urine input.  If he is unable to urinate at all, it's a true medical emergency and he must get to the vet to be unblocked.  Blockages are fatal if untreated.  Hopefully he will be okay until you can get him to the vet but he really does need to go as soon as possible.

Please let us know how he does.  Copper is a great name, btw!

Thanks to all for the support!. Checked the litter box this morning. One large urine spot which is from Christmas my other cat a 4 small medium urine clumps. Ironically they each prefer to use thier own litter box, amazing. I called two emergency places 1 hour from me and they confirmed that keep up with fluids, if he's playful that is a good sign. He underbelly is soft and pliable, not hard or tight which is a good sign. I will be talking to the vet and getting him in for precautionary. Keeping an eye on him today. He is super cuddly this morning, talking and playing.
The name copper came from the way he meows sounds like a siren...

I'm so happy to hear that Copper [emoji]128659[/emoji] is doing ok so far and that you were able to speak to an emergency vet over the phone for some reassurance and advice. I'm sure that made you feel better to know you are doing all the right things! Please keep up posted on how Copper is doing!

Well there was a large clump of urine and stool even, however when I got done with dinner I snuck up on him and straining to urinate. Found a vet 20 min away and they saw him immediatley. Crystals!!! They are also culturing to ensure no infection. They said lots of water.... to this I replied pagoda fountain, faucets when we're in kitchen, bathroom and cups of water... vet scratched his head so...added perscription hills diet food. Now where can I gwt this so it doesn't hit my budget to terribly? Yes extatic I took him relieved and his bladder and all are ok...so glad to all of you. Thanks!!!!

Oh so glad you got him to the vet right away! You caught this before it became really serious. My girl had an episode of crystals about two years ago and that was my first thought when you described Coppers behavior.

Chewy.com typically has slightly lower prices especially if you set up an auto ship. They have amazing customer service and will contact your vet for the prescription. 1-2 day shipping is free if you order over $49. The prescription food will stabilize the emergent situation.

Once Copper is stabilized and his urine is clear of crystals, you may be able to transition him to a non-prescription canned diet but only do so in conjunction with your vet. I kept my Kitty on the prescription food for about 6 months and then, with my vets approval, I transitioned her to non-prescription canned diet. Must be a canned diet.

You can also add water to his canned food to get more water in him.

There is also evidence that suggests the stress or anxiety plays a role in crystal formation. Dedicated interactive playtime was something I've implemented since Kitty's crystals. Also, you might want to consider adding a Feliway diffuser to help with any stress or anxiety. Here's a link to an article about cats and stress:

I hope Copper is feeling back to normal soon [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

We play and jump 30 min at a time every night. Run, chase and hide and seek. He's a hoot. They gave me both dry and wet. I will mix for both cats as they like to share dishes, thinking one has something the other didn't get. Very easy going. We even play and run outside. I will look at chewy for sure. Thanks again. Vet said permanent diet and it won't hurt the other cat. So tonight a few more bowls of water around if he can drink any where. Bonus for him.
This site is great.keep you updated.:)

So glad you've already have playtime down! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Once things are under control, I would encourage you to do your research regarding the diet. My vet gave me the "permanent diet" line but I was less than thrilled to the prescription diet ingredients and wanted alternatives (and for the cost!). This website is an amazing resource regarding cat nutrition and there is a whole section on Urinary crystals:

Thanks... I voiced my concerns about the choices. Both cats like it. Seems to be positive so far, now if he would just let me groom his nails. :)

Well something must be stressing copper out today, he's trying to leave a stool. I ensured the mirolax in with his food and 2 tbsp of water, small urine amounts. Ideas on helping with this. He got outside play time running around and play time in the house. Don't want to panic yet.he keeps linking down there....let it rip with feedback....

Have you tried mixing some pumpkin in his food to help with passing of stool? Plain (no spices) canned pumpkin. Just mix a teaspoon in his canned food.

Sorry to hear Copper is having a tough time. I looked back through the thread and other than adding some Feliway to try to reduce stress, it seems like you are attacking this problem at every angle. Here's a link to Feliway but you can get it at most pet stores, Amazon etc:
