As a wild & crazy baby boomer growing up in the fifties in England, I thought a lot of the things my parents did were so boring & corny. One of the things I hated was when they took us to the "seaside" and they would sit all day in a deck chair staring out to sea. Fifty-five years or so later I cannot think of anything better to do.

Thoughts?

I don't think so. I'm still a 22 year old but now I'm stuck in the body of a 46 year old- and I have a 21 year old DD. We're practically twins now.

I'm pretty much my parents' polar opposite on most things.

Though I'm 65 I still feel young inside. I was dancing along ecstatically this morning to The Song Remains the Same.

I was born in 1970. My mom read and did needlepoint and also sewed. My father was an avid reader and gardener and in the evening would listen to music.
I miss the carefree times like back in my childhood. Now it's rush and get it done.
I am like my parents now. I make time for the simple pleasures is reading and gardening, enjoying the simple pleasures in life and am passing that along to my 4 and 6 year old children.

My mother and i are pretty close and have been since I was 20/21?  I always joke she had it easy with me when I was a teenager.  Now she's not quite 60 and if I'm turning into her I'd take it as a compliment.  Shes more active than I am, volunteers more than I do, just gets more done in general.  She's become quite a fashionable Grandma (like her mother was) and has always been an excellent cool.  She flies with my step-dad, rides on the back of his motorcycle (both things I won't do!
).  She's even thinner and in better shape than she was 10-15 years ago.

I don't think I'm turning into my Dad.  Unless you get me mad enough to rant.

So if you find me loudly sharing my political opinion with a beer in one hand; then I've turned into my Dad.  But so far I only rant on non or mildly political topics. And never with a beer in hand.

I'm also a baby boomer, born in 1950. I'm 66 but feel like I'm in my 40's. I can't really think of anything that I do that my mother used to do when she was my age. She passed away a year ago on Tuesday. I really miss her.

I wish I was turning into my mother.  She walked three miles and did an hour of yoga daily, right up until she passed away at 75.  She was a fantastic cook and was able to hold her own with Korean, Indian and Italian cuisine as well as US cuisine (whatever that is!)  She loved her family and was always loving and comforting.  Her house was immaculate.  She loved animals and nursed many an older dog who was nearing the end of its days.  And finally, she started a magazine at each of my father's posts.  Compared to her, I am a total slug.
