Alternate Lactulose administration methods?

My vet prescribed my Lizzie Lactulose, 1 mL twice a day. However, I'm also giving ear drops (4 drops in each ear) twice a day for an ear infection, and she's already head shy. By the time I try to give her the Lactulose, it takes several tries, I have to scruff her to even get her to stand still, and she still puts up a fight. She goes crazy when I try to towel her; I live alone and don't have an extra pair of hands.

Is it possible to administer the Lactulose in a different way other than by syringe? I worry that if I keep battling with her twice a day for two different medications, it will cause unnecessary stress. She was hiding from me under the bed when I left this morning, and now 12 hours later is still cautious of me.

Can you kneel on the floor and tuck your cat between your knees, with or without a towel? You would be able to hold the cat firmly but still have two free hands. Giving the meds in the bathroom with the door closed limits where your cat can hide if she squirms away.

Hi LTS3 LTS3 ! She's super squirmy and has had a lot of stress lately (3 vet visits in a month, plus a major dental extraction), so is really jumpy about being enclosed or trapped in any way. Her coat is really soft, something I've always loved but makes her really slippery, and is also really petite. Administering this Lactulose orally is really freaking her out, and she has vomiting issues (which we're trying to figure out, hence the laxative and her new GI diet...)

stephanietx stephanietx I'I going to call the vet today and ask if that's a possibility. She tends to eat slowly and doesn't always eat her entire meal, but I'd rather she only get most of her dose than be stressed to the point that it exacerbates the vomiting.

Are you giving her lactulose for constipation?  What's her issue?  I had better luck with switching to a mainly wet diet and adding pumpkin to soften her stools. If needed, we'd give Miralax, but I think now I would try slippery elm bark first.
