So I just got my kitty, Prinze, a few days ago and noticed he's not neutered. He's six months but the old owner said that the vets wouldn't give him shots or anything bc he wasn't old enough. I just set up an a appointment online for him to get neutered and everything else done but I am wondering if I'm doing the right thing? I don't wanna make this bad of a mistake if it turns out he's too young or something

Six months is a good age to neuter Prinze. Have him neutered is good for him.

Here's an article on why you should neutere your kitty.

Yep, that's a fine age to neuter cats.

Just don't let the vet talk you into de-clawing. Sometimes they offer a neuter/de-claw "package deal" and try to pressure you into it. Just say no! :D

He'll need his shots too. Most people don't like to do shots and neutering at the same time. It would be best if you could have his shots done about 2 weeks before or after the neuter surgery. Most vets prefer you do it before. If absolutely necessary, the shots can be done at the same time as surgery, but that's a lot of stress on his body so it's best not to if you can help it.

Kittens need shots at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks old. Another shot at 6 months and then once a year or every 3 years (depends on your vet and your own personal preference).

6 months is my preferred time for neutering. If you're going to get him declawed (not recommened) but if you do, PLEASE have it done while he is young. It is easier on him in the long run. Also you must use a specal litter if you're getting him declawed as well. My last vet instructed me to not use a clumping litter or a scented litter until his incision site heals from alteration. Good luck! :)
