I have researched canned, raw & dry food now for many years. I still don't understand everything but I did learn to keep carbs at 10% or below. Ok easy enough. I have fed my cats according to this standard for the last 3 years & one of my cats is a fatty. So then I'm told calorie content is more important when it comes to fat cats. I guess fat content doesn't matter much.
I switched over from Natures Variety Instinct to Weruva (all non fish flavors) at the end of Aug, I also started feeding raw & now it's a chore to get anyone but one, to eat any canned. I still leave a can of food out at night so they have something to eat on. People told me NV is a high fat food, ok so this whole time I was focusing on carbs, which I did right but she still got fat because of the high fat, now I'm supposed to find a low cal food or a low fat food?
Most companies only list the main components (protein, fat, fiber, etc) to figure out carb content, is there a way to figure out calories? It's easy enough to find a low fat food but if I'm supposed to deal with calories now, I don't know how.
thanks
