In the last few days, my snow white cat has had a dark discharge coming out of the corners of her eyes.  Having a white cat, I immediately noticed that this is not her normal condition.  I have a vet appointment set for her, but can anyone help me be prepared for what the diagnosis may be?

I want to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

Thanking you for your help.

It could be one of many things, but since it's both eyes, my guess is a mild case of upper respiratory infection.  Mind you, this is just a guess...it's impossible to diagnose via the internet, and we're not Vets.

Until are Vet appointment, just wipe her eyes with a damp cloth to clean them up

Since it's dark and not yellow or green, I'm going to say it's probably airborne allergies.  You can use a warm cloth to wipe it away, but I usually just use my finger. LOL

Hi

My feral kitty (trapped him) had this and his is kitty herpes. VERY VERY common. Running dark eyes that dry hard on face a bit. MANY cats have it and yes it is very contagious to licks and even when dry.

I use L-Lysine powder in the water bowl which relieves that.

They make treats too from L - Lysine but powder is better for me

Kitties like it and go to lick it when I put it in to  the water dishes

PS

Feline herpes wont kill the kitty or hurt it a long as you treat it ... it'll be ok

I remember seeing a white Persian at the shelter have dark discharge from her eyes. She had to have them cleaned daily as this was a chronic problem for her.

One of my kitties had a bit of dark discharge when he had a cold once. Did not drain a ton, but I do remember him having that a bit.

Isn't the Neomycin/Polymyxin stuff an antibiotic?? I used to get that prescribed for my pet mice when they had an intestinal tract infection.

Yes, the drops are an antibiotic.  I don't know why, but the drops are helping her eyes to look better.
