Have taken in 3 cats and feed four ferals. The oldest loves his daily pettings and i noticed his jaw is swollen. In my ignorance have thought this was flea allergies.looked at his teeth and they are terrible. He is probably 8-10 which is good for a feral but i love him and don't know if it is more humane to get him killed or to let him live his life in hidden pain. He doesn't show any pain but i know it hurts. Heartbroken. Can't afford to get him dental help as much as i wish i could get all my feral loved ones veterinarian care. Advice needed... I understand your predicament with the cost of dental help, it can be very expensive.  Would it be at all possible to at least get a dental x-ray?  The reason I'm suggesting this is because our last cat, Neely, had cancer of the mandible and we had no idea.  It was not conclusive from the x-ray, i.e. biopsy is best diagnosis, but in your situation maybe an x-ray would shed some light.  Good luck and please keep us posted.
