Hi, so my cat has been diagnosed with ear mites a few days ago when I took her the vet, and he gave me ear drops(oil-based ear drops) and told me to clean her ears with baby oil on cotton ball first, then apply some drops in the cat's ears. I did this process for four days, and the my cat's fur got VERY oily and greasy, I thought it was fine, but today I noticed she had something like dandruff around her ear fur, I think it's caused due to scratching oily skin around the ear, but i'm not too sure. I am worried that it could be an allergic reaction or something serious.

And how do I not get her to be that much greasy? she looks terrible [emoji]9785[/emoji]️ I can't path her because she's been recently spayed.

I tired to take photos but they weren't very clear.

The only thing I can think of is to get some cat safe wipes and try wiping the oil off of her fur after cleaning her ears.  I have been through ear mites with two of my cats but I do not remember having this issue.  If you are concerned about an allergic reaction then it might be a good idea to call your vet and ask them about it. Your vet may also be  able to give you other idea's about what products you can safely use to remove the excess oil from her fur. I do remember the ear cleaning being a messy process.  Hopefully someone else who has experienced this issue can give you some better advice.

It could be residue from the cotton balls or even dead skin from the ear sloughing off.  I would get some cat wipes and clean it off her ears.  Tomorrow, call the vet's office and talk with them about your concerns.

I went to the vet yesterday and they told me she had fungal infection due to wrong application of ear mites drops, poor little Boo :( :(

They gave me other meds and showed me how to apply them. Now she had the infection for 5 days only and it's only around her ear, they saved her head to prevent it from spreading to the rest of her body. Should I isolate her? Should I worry about getting the infection?

Yes ringworms :( I locked her in a bathroom for now but I feel very sorry for her. What should I do to speed the process of healing? they gave me antifungal spray, but I heard that it's not very effective, should I get cream or something stronger?

It's not actually worms, it's a microscopic fungus under the skin, but named ringworm because of it's commonly seen as a raised circle on the skin.

Nothing that will actually speed it up, but for treatment, go to the store where they sell athlete's foot cream, it MUST say contains terbinafine.

Apply a thin coat on all spots, try to reapply as much as possible, it helps it not spread.

Poor baby in the bathroom :(

Do you have other animals in contact with her if she comes out?

Vacuuming every day is a must really.

Thank you! I will go pick up some cream today.

I don't have other pets, I released her from the bathroom, hopefully she will not spread it to us. I vacuumed everything yesterday and bleached the floors and I will repeat again.

Hopefully she'll heal soon.

Oh good, I'm glad she was let out.

It's really not all that with no other pets, it's when you do have others and they just keep passing it back and forth!

Good! Well we do have a bird! Can it get it [emoji]128517[/emoji]?

About the spreading, the vet shaved her head to stop the spreading and most of the ringworm was removed the shaving process.
She looks weird but I think she's very happy about the new haircut [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

Very doubtful, bird is not all over the floor where the spores would be hanging, but when you handle your kitty you should wash your hands afterwards too, or wear latex type gloves.

It's not something scary, just can be a nuisance with multiple pets is all.

Last year I was handling a kitten at the humane society who had ringworm, I ended up getting a spot on my wrist from her, first time ever, and just kept the cream on it with a bandaid over it, took a few weeks to be gone but not a big thing.

Update: so it's been two weeks since I started treating my cat from ringworm, I used apple cider vinegar because I didn't see any positive results from sprays and creams.

And suddenly one day when I came from university, I found a huge patch of blood on her neck!!!! I freaked out and took her immediately to the vet. They told me that the ringworm didn't heal at all and this patch is caused by ringworm as well. They gave her an anti-ringworm injection, and told me that her immune system is weak that's why she's not healing. Also they told me to continue applying creams to speed up the process of healing. Now it's been three days since she got the shot, I don't see any changes in the ringworm. I started to apply athletes foot cream again but her skin got VERY flaky and bloody!!! I think she's allergic to the cream. I don't know what to do.

I literally spent all my money trying to get rid of ringworm but it's really eating up her skin and I don't know what else to do! The vet told me to come back for another shot after a week.

Is there any thing I could do at home to help her heal? Any effective home remedies? Other than ACV.

I love my cat and I want to help her, but her body isn't responding [emoji]128557[/emoji]

Should I wait for the injection to kick in? I honestly don't know how long to see results after getting the injection.

Please help me, you might know something that could help without paying too much money!
