Good morning!
  And Happy Friday!
 I'm ready for the weekend.

Today's question concerns the fall shows on television: Now that the new shows/new seasons have been airing for a while, are they any that you really like? How about any shows that are not-so-good? Any favorites among the bunch?

I don't think I've watched any of the new shows.....maybe about 5 minutes of Kevin Can Wait after Big Bang one night. That show? Ridiculous. Nothing like yet another grown man acting more immature than a kid. It's pretty much a remake of King of Queens, IMO, and I stayed away from that show, too.

Saw the first show of Supernatural last night; it wasn't bad. I don't get as excited about SN as I used to. I really do enjoy Lucifer, when I can stay awake long enough to watch an entire episode.

Wish the new seasons of America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country would start. I do like Annabel Langbein's The Free-Range Cook on CREATE. And Kevin Dundon's Modern Irish Food, also on CREATE.

I love horror. Maybe a bit too much. So my favourites are The Walking Dead. FEAR the Walking Dead. American Horror Story. Game of Thrones.
Darker stuff...
I used to love thoes 90's-2000 shows (when I was a kid I was all about Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark and Tales from the Crypt) also Buffy, Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural.[emoji]128514[/emoji]
Horror shows are much better now.
I also enjoy some lighter comedy like Big Bang Theory. Just to truely switch off the brain. I'm not a huge comedy fan.
And I like to watch Japanese Anime aswell. Also with darker themes..or Neko![emoji]128571[/emoji]

However, the month of October I don't watch any t.v. series because I have my anual Horror movie marathon. So any free time I might have at night I spend watching Horror movies. The theme this year is Foreign films.

Back to starting new t.v. series next month.

I haven't watched actual TV for a good while now. I'm pretty much exclusively watching Netflix and Amazon Video...and not really watching new shows as my little brain can't cope with them at the moment :rolleyes2 :slant:

I tried to watch the first episode of Macgyver but could not get into it
I had the DVR record it and watched it later. The DVR recording must have missed a few minutes of the beginning of the show because I had no idea what was going on. The first scene I saw was of a woman and a man in a room arguing about something and then the scene cuts to a helicopter scrash and injured people and then to another scene where two 30-somethings are in a control room with satellite images on huge screens zooming in onthe crash and trying to locate people.

Just give me the old Macgyer shows without all the fancy CGI stuff
I loved those as a kid growing up.

I shut my TV service off back in August 2013 so I haven't the slightest idea of any new shows that are on. All I have now is my Netflix and the Amazon Prime streaming. What am I watching right now? Frasier. I go back and watch the series from beginning to end every now and then. I do that with a lot of series that I like.

@Winchester  my DH liked Supernatural a lot. I just liked looking at the boys. How are they looking these days?

Yup, I feel the same way about the new MacGyver series... it is a bore in comparison with the original.. Wish that one was still on TV.

Has anyone watched the new series; Designated Survivor with Keifer Sutherland?  I am absolutely hooked on it. I guess if you watched "24", and Jack Bauer, you will understand the depth of it's popularity. Personally, I never watched 24, but this series is definitely good. Yes, there are some trite cliches in it, but overall, very tense.. lots of plot twists...(pretty liberal leanings)...

They have spoiled it by increasing the amount of commercials. The first episode did not have all that many; as it's popularity increased, the commercials increased exponentially ... that is a shame. It was originally signed up for 6 episodes, but has been upped to the entire season.

I am really into a rerun of a series from Australia which is being run on PBS. It is "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries". It takes place in the late 1920's, in Australian, but it could easily be England.

The main character is a very wealthy Feminist who is a Female Private Investigator. Right now it is up to season 3. The original series is now on season 4.

I did watch the first episode of Timeless.... verdict is still out on that.....

A new series (the 18th) of Midsomer Murders just hit Netflix so I have been happily binge watching that.  It's actually pretty good compared to some in the recent past.  I did notice that the music seems to be less captivating than in previous years which is a shame because that's one of reasons I like the show so much.

I only turn the tv on to watch the shows listed below. SO glad the new seasons have started! I watch:

Gotham

Big Bang Theory

Blue Bloods

Wayward Pines

Life Below Zero

I used to watch Edge of Alaska but I guess it was cancelled & right when exciting stuff was happening!

I watch almost nothing on the major channels, new or old, except Law and Order: SVU. It's hard to believe it's been on for 16 years. What I do watch are the public stations (we have three in Chicago), HGTV, and CNN and MSNBC. I've also discovered a half dozen music channels on Comcast, and since my stereo doesn't tune in a lot of stations, I leave the music on during the day.

I'll have to tune in Miss Fisher. Haven't seen that on the schedules. Australia is putting out a lot of good stuff these days. Love Liane Moriarity; just finished Truly, Madly, Guilty.

I do not have expanded cable any longer because of the expense, but I do miss CNN and Turner Classic Movies and Tru Crime channels.  I would be watching those everyday.

I do however, enjoy a channel Escape that has detective, true crime shows that I love.  I also love the re-runs of the old Columbo series.  I also watch re-plays of Dick Cavett from Decades channel.

I still love Antiques Roadshow and most of PBS and Create, as @Winchester  mentioned.

I too, LOVE America's Test Kitchen.

Of the new shows I like Superstore. It's OK but nothing special. The only other show I have watch is Good Place with Ted Danson. I can't stand him and I don't care for the show.

You took the words right off of my fingertips!  I love Designated Survivor.  My only issue with it is that the premise is going to be outgrown pretty quickly.  They have three years before the next election, so there's an extension of the show, and he could certainly be elected for another term...but...Something in me keeps whispering, "That would have made a dynamite movie!"  However, I'm addicted.

Also, and oddly, I like Lethal Weapon.  The guy playing Riggs,Clayne  Crawford (newcomer, I think) isn't a pretty-boy like Gibson was back in the day, but he brings something to that roll that I'm really enjoying.  In the first epsisode when he tells Murtaugh that he won't kill himself because his dead wife would be ashamed of him, he delivers that line with total believability.

I was also disappointed with MacGyver.  I'm watching it, so far, but in a rather desultory manner.  I tend to get up and wander off several times during the show.  .

I have a note to myself to watch Pure Genius when that comes out, as well as Midnight, Texas, which will be a mid-season debut.  I love Charlaine Harris books.  Must give it a try, although True Blood murdered the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

Oh, this series can really extend beyond the next election..As I have mentioned before, '24 Hours' was on for about 6 years..anything can happen in TV-time...it is a different space/time continuum..

I think the idea is to present so many plots that, the series can go in any direction, for a given episode..

President Kirkman is just getting started.. He is finding "himself', in this job that he never, ever thought of..

I am addicted to it also.. The Facebook fanbase is huge for this program.

I don't actually have a TV. I sometimes watch stuff on You Tube, but not very often. I'm physically incapable of just sitting and watching something, even if it's only 30 minutes long, but I'll sometimes put something on if I have some sewing or some craft project that I'm working on.

I like documentaries. I like the ones about rare medical conditions, complicated surgery, mental illness, hoarders, obsessive compulsive disorders, that kind of thing. (Yeah, I know. I'm weird.)

The last time I watched anything it took me three hours to get through a 90 minute documentary because I had to keep pausing and getting up to feed the cats, get another cup of tea, go to the loo, find a sharper pair of scissors, clean up where Hiro sprayed, etc etc etc.

I've been watching Kevin can wait. I liked king of Queens and I don't mind it.
I'm sorry. That was rude of me and I apologize. I tend to forget sometimes that not everybody has the same tastes and what one person may not like, somebody else may enjoy. My apologies...it was rude and I'm really sorry.
