I have 7 litterboxes. I clean the litterbox all the time and make sure the litter is clean. My bad kee kees won't use any of them. Some will go to the bathroom right in front of the entrance to the litterbox. Some goes to the bathroom any place they want on my livingroom and kitchen floor. My house smells bad because I am sure they spray urine on my walls. How do I get them to use these litterboxes? Am I doing something wrong? I get so angry and furious that I want to put all the bad boy kee kees outside because I am so over this. I need advice from anybody.

Are all of your cats spayed and neutered?

What are you using to clean up after they go in an inappropriate place?

Yes all my cats are spayed and nuertered and when i clean up where they went to the bathroom I first clean with soap and water then spray the area with a odor spray that will take away the urine smell.

When I adopted my she cat Cucumella 5 years ago she was 8 years old and had always lived in a garden. I was afraid she would not want to  use the litter box. I live in an apartment and the poor thing would not do anything anywhere. Then my son in law brought some of her old "depositions" from the garden and placed them in the litter box. I then placed Cucumella on the sand and THAT did it.  She has been using the litterbox ever since. Good luck if you try.

Thank you for your information. What are depositions?

I think that user meant deposits, meaning poop.

I saw in another post of yours that you have 35 cats. Is that the case? If so, you need a lot more than 7 boxes.

Cats are notoriously fussy about their litter boxes being just so, and if anything is out of place all of a sudden, they may protest by not using it.
Also, mine for example, lets me know when he isn't feeling well by purposely not using the box right, or at all.
So I respond to that by giving him extra love and looking for whats gone wrong and fixing it for him. And then he takes to using the box again normally.

I think having 35 cats using 7 boxes probably just cant work because a cat may share a box with one or two other cats (in some cases, not always), but they
wont be willing to share with...well 35 divided by 7 = five. You've got five cats to a box. it's too many to work out okay. Remember animals generally use peeing
to mark THEIR territory so that other animals will leave it alone. So..your cats are getting signals when they encounter other cats 'leavings'.

But I have seen three cats share one box before. It can be done on a smaller scale, having them share a box.

In general though, it's tricky to deal with cats and their litter boxes in the first place. They're quite fussy about things being just so.
And they need it to be in the right place, smelling the right way. And any little change can cause them to abandon it all of a sudden.
So if you find something that works, you gotta stick to it. And that would have to include adding a new cat to a situation,
which is an event that can throw them off. You may have added too many hon.

Anyway, honestly, if they aren't using the box, they're telling you there's a problem. They perceive they have a problem, and they want it fixed. It's their way of letting you know.
So while it may make you feel frustrated, try and focus on the love that made you want to take care of them. And find what they are having an issue with. I think though, you'll find it's just too many cats in too little space. Bless your heart for taking them all on though. I knew someone with 30 cats before. She gave them the house and slept on the porch herself (even in winter).
But you know what? She just thought that she's here to take care of others..be it people or animals. So she had rows of rabbit cages in the yard too! And it gave her a sense of purpose.
And she was a great woman! I liked her.

But I did think she had too many cats to have them all feel they had what they individually needed. You know, space to roam, places to call their territory.
They were beautiful cats though that she took in. She had Siamese and Himalayans. They were gorgeous and special. But they did suffer a bit from overcrowding.
In one of your other posts, I see you decided you need to give them all up? mm Maybe you could keep three of them. Maybe you should. it would be awful EMPTY if you let them all go all of a sudden. (And three can share two litter boxes, placed away from each other. or even if they need three, one each. That can work well. I wish you luck with your cats. And I wish you health and happiness in things. :)
