I have been feeding a male stray cat for about 2 months and he is my buddy. I'll sit outside and he will crawl in my lapurse, curl up and sleep. Such a good boy!!
Anyways, he isn't fixed. he has been missing for about a week now and I asked some people a few roads down if they have seen a stray black male cat and they said yeshe, he has been hanging around a female and they think she is pregnant.

so, long story short. my question is if Daniel (my kitty) is the father, would he be hanging around her?? and why all of a suddend? I mean he doesn't stay all night, he will leave when I turn off our porch light but now he hasn't come back.

If a non neutered cat finds a female in heat, he will wander far and wide and stay near her during her cycle.  He will also continue to look for a mate.  Males can forgo food when they are looking for a mate.

Please consider trapping this boy and getting him neutered.  It is the kindest thing you can do for him.  Unneutered males will wander far, get into fights and the hormones will drive them.  Trapping and neutering him is a simple procedure.  If he is friendly and you can pick him up, then getting him into a carrier should not be a problem.  There are many low cost spay/neuter clinics in the US that are available for stray cats.  By feeding him, you are keeping him healthy and strong so that he may wander, fight and reproduce.  I hope you will consider getting him neutered.  Any chances you would keep him and make him an inside kitty?

Thank you for a response!!

a few weeks ago I did make phone calls to places to get him fixed, vaccinated and flea treated. The hard part is my bf wants absolutely NOTHING to do with Daniel. he said the minute the cat steps in the house he will move out. When I called a local place to have him fixed I would have to keep him overnight and bring him in the next day. that's the issue :/.
Besides my bf being a jerk about it, we already have 4 cats (3 males and a female). our youngest male was actually a stray we took in 2 years ago and we had a ton of issues with aggression towards the other males. he is better not thankfully but when Daniel comes to visit he will hiss and growling at the door. the other cats won't but he will.
he has been gone for a week now so when he shows back up again I will look into getting him fixed.

That's too bad your boyfriend wants nothing to do with him.  I have always told my DH if I had to choose, I choose the cats!!!

Even if Daniel needs to stay outside, you can build him a shelter to stay warm and dry if the area where you live gets cold.  It is not hard to make a cheap one out of rubbermaid containers and straw.  You can search the internet for "feral cat shelter" and view them by images.

I have a few ideas on my blog of what I have used over the years.

I hope that when Daniel comes back he can get fixed and vaccinated.  It will make his life so much easier.  Maybe within time your boyfriend will warm up to the idea.  Yet already having 4 cats is hard.  I know that introducing and getting them to all get along can be very challenging.  Just take one step at a time!

My mom actually got some totes from work so I plan on using those plus some insulation and blankets to make him a home (if he returns) really hope he does come back, I miss him :(

That is great!  Be cautious of using blankets in a shelter as they can get wet and cause a cat to be very cold.  Straw is best for a cat to burrow inside and stay warm and dry.  If you have an electrical outlet, you can use an outdoor approved heat pad.  Also be sure it is placed under cover or in a place where rain/snow will not get inside.
