We have a couple cats outside that we've had TNR'd.  They started out feral but over time they've gotten to where I guess they're semi-feral?  They'll gladly eat in front of me and play with toys with me.  They just aren't quite up for being touched yet.

Anyway, we've had various concerns about them staying outside.  One of them likes to get under my car.  I have to check for her and then have my husband keep watch to make sure she doesn't get back under there again.  I'm not sure if she does this with neighbors' cars or if I can trust them to take the same precaution.  There's a big tom that I haven't been able to catch yet that scares the other.  There's also a possum that keeps stealing food at night that I can't figure out how to chase away.  And one of the kitties keeps trying to get into the house sometimes anyway.

We do have a very large screened in porch.  I think it would probably need something like chicken wire to be more durable against tears.  It would also need lots of places for them to be able to jump and hide and climb.  Toys, scratching pads, litter boxes, etc.  I keep thinking that they'd be a lot safer there if I can get it properly set up for them.

The question though is would this really be an okay idea?  I know they're used to their freedom.  If they ever became tame enough I'd like to see if I can bring them indoors as well.  However, because they're so closely bonded together I feel that they should stay together no matter what we decide.

Having them in an enclosure would make it so much safer for them.  I would think it would be worth a try as long as you can get it all cat proofed.  Here is a great website that has so many ideas for outdoor settings.  http://www.catsofaustralia.com/cat-enclosures.htm

I hope this works out for you.
