Hi everyone,

Someone ran over my cat yesterday and at the moment he is at the vet's with a dislocated pelvis. Our options are limited, we either pay an operation 5.000pounds, we take and risk a recoovery or put him to sleep. These are the x-ray and we would appreciate if someone could offer some advice as we don't know what to do and unfortunately, we can't afford paying that amount of money. The Cat is 8 months old andislocationd he has sensitivity in both rear legs. Looking at the x-ray if someone has been through something similar or there is a kind vet in the room, do you think is worth bringing him home and try to heal him here? We are very upset and we don't know what to do

Thank you very much

No one here on TCS is a a vet so unfortunately cannot provide you any diagnosis of treatment. Be wary of anyone online who claims to be a vet. There are many trolls out there who intend to do harm just for the fun of it. You can never be 100% sure of anyone's online claim of being a vet.

Are you in the UK? You mentioned pounds and the UK is the only country I know of that uses pounds as currency. @Columbine and @MServant live in the UK and may be able to suggest low cost vet options for you. You can slo look at this: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/no-money-for-vet-care-how-to-find-help-and-save-your-cats-life

@Geoffrey is a Human doctor and may be able to read your cat's x rays. Vet medicine is a lot different from Human medicine so you would still need to seek out the advice of a vet.

Some sensible advice there LTS3.   I hope someone with experience looking at Xrays is around.

Very upsetting.  I am really sorry this has happened.  It is great you were able to get your cat to a vet quickly and they are keeping him there where he can be monitored, and hopefully be kept calm and comfortable.

With vet fees, if no insurance that might cover what has happened, and nothing possible from the links above, do you know if your vet has any kind of payment plan option, or if there are any charitable vet care hospitals where you live?

Thinking of you and hoping your cat stabilizes and you find some way of getting any treatment he needs.  I really don't know what the outcome might be with / without surgery.

I have had a look at the X-ray.  Please note that I am a human doctor, not a veterinarian and any advice that I give you should be checked with your vet.

There appears to be a severe dislocation of the left Ileum bone from the equivalent of the sacrum in a human being.  This means that the whole left half of the pelvis has been dislocated forward, towards the head. Luckily the bladder has not been damaged.  However I am sure that you shouldn't try to treat this yourself, it is far too serious. You should discuss the situation with your vet and accept what advice that you are given.

With all best wishes,

Geoffrey

I think veterinary treatment is definitely worth a shot. I know I'd always wonder what might have been if I euthanised at this stage.

If money is an issue, talk to your vet about a payment plan, or contact the PDSA and see if they can help. There are more links in the following article [article="32915"][/article]
As others have said, this really isn't something you can deal with on your own. Veterinary treatment is the only option if you decide to see if he can pull through.

Sending mega :vibes: for you and your boy.
