Mineral oil does the same as olive oil, but olive oil is healthier. I hope she goes soon. The English word for the procedure you described is "enema". Glad you found a decent vet! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

He said it was similar but mineral oil was a little stronger. Whether it is true or not, I am happy to have found someone who cares about all animals, not just dogs. The other vets I walked into looked at me as though I was carrying a snake!

Yes, mineral oil is more potent than vegetative oils alike olive oil.  Good to have in tricky situations. The difficulty is to find one of of food grade.

But for example, a couple of weeks ago I was in a shop selling also horse devices, to see if they had some good leather soap. And there among their leather cleaning soaps I found - yes liquid paraffine (my old favorite for severe constipation), and the label assured it was 100% pure.  I looked up their homesite, and saw they also produced liquid paraffine for vet use. I mailed to the producer and asked.  They answered, they told they dont have any additions,  the same oil in both products, the vet and the leather.

Thus also the leather cleaning product should be OK.

And they did some export to other european countries.

Similiar products are probably made by other producents as well. But if they always are de facto of food grade is another question.   It may be worth to look around and look and see.

But for everyday use, some nice food oil is good enough.   :)   My favorites is coldpressed olive oil and coldpressed canola oil - as they are both good and healthy nourishment in itself. But almost any food oil will do.

You want to be careful not to change the food you are giving her, she has a delicate digestive system that is not fully developed yet, but soon.

You asked earlier about giving fresh goat milk, that is excellent!

Constipation comes from a lack of food, allowing her to decide how much she will take is likely the reason she is unable to poop on her own.

A kitten needs 8 mls of milk for every ounce she weighs, so if she is 10 ounces then she needs to get 80 mls of milk a day.

Once you can get enough in to her and this rather dry poop that is in her out, she should be regular afterwards for you.

She is able to poop and poo on her own actually, at 3 weeks they have developed enough muscle to do this.

I would put several drops of mineral oil in to each bottle so she is able to regulate herself.

Nice job, and LOVE her little cubby pouch!! Adorable.

I keep trying to post a new picture but I can't for some reason.

So, I converted ml into oz and 80ml would be 2.7 Oz, in a 24hour period, she drinks closer to 4oz. Is it bad for her to drink too much?

Ah, I am going crazy!

The more she drinks the better! Impossible to overfeed a growing kitten! The 8 mL per ounce of weight is a minimum.

Also, that was an example. How much does your kitten actually weigh? Your kitten should weigh close to 16 ounces at 4 weeks old, so she should be drinking much more than 80 mLs each day. [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Yesterday she weighed 10.58 ounces. She pees like a champ, no need for help. The poop she got out at the vet was from the thermometer, but it was just a little bit.

I swear, I am not this clueless about other stuff!

This is what TLC is for - to help one another with feline issues! No worries! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

If your kitten continues drinking above minimum amounts of formula, she will grow quickly. You're doing a great job! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Cute picture!

Does anyone have some good suggestions for kitten toys, DIY toys would be best.
Onyx is about 3.5 weeks old. She tries to play with the dogs, but they just lick her and walk away. She plays with our hands, but I don't want her to get used to biting hands!

Great on the poop end :D

Also agree, it was used as an example, and the more she drinks on her own the better! Force feeding her too much is bad, her voluntarily drinking this much is great!

No biting hands! She will learn they are toys and is growing, before you know it she will be causing wounds from her teeth and nails, so she needs toys.

Very small, a small piece of tin foil balled up tightly, the ring from a milk gallon jug top, a small fuzzy mouse, etc.

That pic warmed my heart, it reminds me of my Krissy doll, when she was a tiny kitten her best friend was my 218 lb Great Dane.

What a pair!

Tie a feather onto a string and wand and make her jump for it. Great interactive play and it teaches her not to go for hands.

I went ahead and bought one. She seems to like it!

Today she had a huge poop! I'm so happy! When should I start to give her regular food? Now or after she poops more regularly?

It's great that she's pooping now!

Do you mean when should you give her wet cat food?

I could not find wet kitten food, so it would be regular kitten food wet down with goat's milk.

Thursday I am going to go to a pet shop in the City and see if I can find wet kitten food, but my husband looked in two stores here today and didn't find any. I don't have many options, but I could get canned tuna if you suggest that it would be better.

Wet kitten food is best, but in the meantime you can try the moistened dry food. She's still on the young side, so she may not take to it yet. Continue giving her milk too. Is she gaining weight and getting bigger?

Regular wet is fine. My huge supermarket here only has a few cans of kitten. My kittens loved regular wet.
