I actually started my account here a long time ago and posted one thread but never knew to introduce myself. My apologies.
You can call me by my user name "Poznog." I live with my husband and our three cats. You can see them in the attached picture. I also included a picture of my late cat Gonzo in the upper left corner. We lost him to kidney failure a year ago. He was the world's coolest and most friendly cat. He acted more like a dog than a cat. We think he may have been an accidental Bombay or Burmese mix.
Anyways, my current three are Scrappy; the dilute calico. She was neglected and then abandoned by our old neighbors. I rescued her one night when the forecast temperature was - 19°. We found out she's FIV+ but kept her anyways.
The black cat in the lower left corner is now our oldest, Princess. We adopted her from the local humane society. She's 16 and is a diabetic in remission. She has permanent neuropathy of the hind legs. We have tried every available treatment and have resorted to making adjustments to our home so she can get around easily. She still runs and plays.
That leaves Animal in the lower right corner, he's our newest addition. He's about 5 months old and was found without a mother at just a few weeks old. So he was a bottle raised kitten. We rescued him from a local shelter. He's named after the Muppet, Animal. We did that in honor of Gonzo who was also named after a Muppet. That's our story.
I'm really glad that I found this site and often find other people's comments to be very helpful. I hope to be helpful too as I have quite a bit of experience with cats. I've worked at a cat boarding facility, as a veterinary assistant and volunteered for a trap, neuter and release program. Happy to meet you all!
