Hi, Happy Saturday.

What is something that everyone else seems to love that you just don't like at all?

For me it's ice-cream. I just don't understand why people eat that stuff. It's a combination of my least favourite things: sweet, cold and a dairy product.

In fact, the only thing worse than ice-cream is a float. Ice-cream on top of a sweet, fizzy soda. Bleugh, why would anyone do that? The only drink that should have bubbles in it is champagne.

What do you think?

You don't like ice cream?!?:thud:

I don't like sodas, anything fizzy. I can't stand the bubbles. On the rare occasion when I do want a soda, I have to shake it first, or stir it until the bubbles are mostly gone. Not totally flat, eww, but not fizzy anymore.

I also don't like shrimp (or crab or lobster---any crustacean). Don't tell me it's a luxury food! They are bugs that live in the sea.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I believe I mentioned this recently here on another thread.  Never even had one. The mere thought of it makes me nauseous LOL.

Yogurt. Rather, it doesn't like me; it's too constipating. I'd be tied in knots for days. Actually, I don't much like the taste or texture, either. A dollop on something, like sour cream, would be okay, though; but I can't imagine eating a bowl of it for breakfast.

Beer.  All my friends drink beer, at least during the summer.  And, it looks so GOOOOOOD on a really hot day.  But after about 3 swallows, the foam starts to back up in my throat, and my world gets very bad indeed.

I can't think of anything that I won't eat at all that most people love.

I am not crazy about shellfish.  I won't cook it myself or order it in a restaurant but I will eat it if someone else has made it and invited me to dinner.

A lot of people I know really like oysters and I won't eat them at all.  I think a lot of people are like me though.  Oysters seem to be one of those things that people either really love or won't eat at all.

Peanut butter and chocolate together in anything. They are both fine on their own but should never, ever touch each other.

Bananas. I find them repulsive

Hard boiled eggs or anything containing them. They are just as gross as bananas. Just thinking about hard boiled eggs or bananas makes me gag

Most seafood. I can't stand anything that tastes like low tide smells

Mass produced milk chocolate like Hershey's, Nestles, Mars and Cadbury. It's not worth the calories.

Beer. There's no such thing as a tasty beer IMO. All are gross. Some grosser than others (Yeah- I'm looking at YOU, Budweiser)

Anything that tastes like anise (black licorice). Why? It's just awful

Cannoli

Cheesecake

Fruit pies

Pop Tarts

Pumpkin spice flavored stuff

Cannoli are certainly overrated. A crust like cardboard wrapped around tasteless fluff. I never could see the attraction to them.

I don't get the thing with cannoli either.  I had never had them and there were a few of us at work who had never had them but it's something you hear about a lot.  A bakery close to work had them so one day at lunch time a co-worker went to this bakery, got some cannoli and brought them back to work.  None of us were impressed.  I don't think anyone actually disliked them, we just couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about.  That was actually the only time I had a cannoli, not worth the calories.

Fresh tomatoes. I'm fine with spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, ketchup, etc but not fresh tomatoes like slices on a sandwhich or in a salad.

Couscous. I tried it once but could not get past the gritty sand-like texture

Squid / calmari, octopus, oysters, abalone.

Hmm.. when I am hungry I'll eat anything but split pea and ham soup. I just can't stand the stuff and it makes the house smell gross.  My parents love it but grew up with it so that's why. My mom even makes it homemade and I just can't. She's an awesome cook; but I will not eat that soup. And asparagus and brussel sprouts. I literally gag on those and have tried to eat them to please my mom lol but I just can't get them down my throat so I'd prefer not to eat them. It's not because I'm picky it's just that I literally gag how strong they are no matter how good they're seasoned.

Another beer hater here!

Also, meat in any form (there's a REASON I've been vegetarian or vegan most of my life! ....and it's not JUST an ethical one  )

Most dairy, especially milk, cream and fresh cheeses (i.e. cream cheese, mozzarella etc)

Blue cheese - so gross that it deserves a separate mention :rasp:

Marshmallows

Fresh tomatoes (cooked is fine though)

Okra...that slimy texture *shudders*

Tapioca.... WHY not earth does anyone want to eat frogspawn?!? (Which, I swear, is the exact same texture! :barf: )

Liquorice (except in tea - totally different to the sweets, and really yummy :yummy: )

....and I always thought I wasn't a picky eater :lol3:

So much licorice hate here. I think Bertie Bassett's are the only sweet from the UK I actually miss. I particularly like the really hard black ones, or the round ones covered in lots of little blue balls.

Pumpkin spice flavored stuff
I've never had pumpkin spice anything, but I'm quite keen to try it. When I went to Tokyo last week I went to a Starbucks and a Tully's looking for a pumpkin spice latte, but neither of them had it. I guess it's too exotic for Japanese tastes.

How can you be so sure? Did you ever try frogspawn?
