Hi guys! I recently rescued an 8 week old kitten. She is beautiful, affectionate, and adjusting okay. She is a little skittish and is not nearly as easy going as my previous fosters, who I could pack up and take anywhere and they would romp and play wherever you put them. She likes to explore but is taking longer to adjust than any of my previous foster kittens, but I could've just had really easy, outgoing fosters.

Due to some recent changes, I will be traveling a lot over the next 8 months or so and she will need to stay with a friend several times, sometimes for as long as a month. I would have someone come feed and play with her so she could stay at my place, but I have electronic keys that can't be copied.

Will moving around be too much stress for an already needy kitten? Should I find her a more stable home? Or are there ways that I can get her used to traveling and moving to new places without totally traumatizing her? I want her to adjust to travelling without freaking her out. No judgment please for considering rehoming her, I am a dedicated pet owner but I just want her to live the best life possible.

I'll leave the answers to the experts on here, but I just wanted to say the kitten is very beautiful. [emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji]

Beautiful kitten!
If I were in your shoes, I would look for a stable home for her. Less stress on the kitten and for you! You're doing the right thing in putting her health and happiness first.

She is very beautiful! [emoji]128149[/emoji]

I think you should seek a permanent, stable, loving home for her so that she is not moving around. From the description of her personality, it sounds like that is what she needs, rather than the stress of frequent changes.

You are very kind to rescue her and do what is in her best interests.

Do you know of someone who might adopt her?

Thanks for the help guys. My gut is telling me to rehome her because she is a sensitive little thing. I've just seen so many people being shamed for considering rehoming on other forums, so I just wanted to make sure I am doing the right thing here. I can't help but feel guilty, but I know someone can provide a better home for her.

I haven't started looking for a home for her, but if she cannot go to a family member or trusted friend, I will be screening potential families very thoroughly!

It's not a bad thing to come to the conclusion to rehome, I've done it. I think the cat will be better off not moving around, she obviously takes more time to get to know her surroundings so if she was in one home, she could feel quite confident.

She is a little babe!!

Thanks again for the help, everyone. Just wanted to share a quick update. After much consideration, I decided to rehome her. Although I miss her terribly already, she is adjusting WONDERFULLY to a new home with my close friend's family. She is already SO loved and spoiled. She is thriving in the company of their resident cat - I think she needed another cat around to help her come out of her shell.Very bittersweet, but I know she has found her perfect home!

So happy to read that your little princess is happily re-homed! One never knows what "is coming down the pike" and it may be that there is another rescue whom you will meet in your travels....Bravo for having the courage to follow your heart's messages and doing what was best for the little kitten even though it meant loss for you.
