Hi everyone,

Today's question is about cat names .......

What are some of the most strange, unusual or clever cat names you've ever heard ?

A friend of mine has a very beautiful tortoiseshell cat called Lettuce :lol3:

Banshee was the name of our RugCat Queen. I've only known one female called Banshee (ours). I knew a male cat in England called Banshee. But I think that is technically a girl's name (not sure though).

Ms. Pepe is our oldie but goodie tortie (and she really wishes our vet would stop calling her Ms. PeePee!)

Da Pumpkin Boy, not Pumpkin, his name was Da Pumpkin Boy, our orange and white tiger baby.

We had a kitten named Pita.

I rather like the name Mollipop, one of our Three Meowskateers. She's a one in a million (and she is my avatar).

One of the former members here had a kitty named Turtle....I thought it was such a cute name.

One of my GF's kitties is called YaPurr; another is Calico Joe

My 1st husband had a cat named Unique. Because she was polydactyl and had half a tail.

She was also a rather cranky feline so the name suited her.

GRIN...My user name on a few sites several years ago was Be'anSidhe, which is the Gaelic spelling of Banshee.  Yes, it is a girl's name.  It is a female spirit in Irish folklore that is attached to a family and wails when a member of "her" family is going to die.  Just so's you know.

Let's see...

We had a big yellow tabby mix named Speedboat. I tried to name him Simba. But he was a runner and would run all over the house at breakneck speeds. The house where we lived at the time was small so that meant you better move out of the way. There was not enough floor space for a person and a "speeding" cat. Hubby started calling him Speedboat and it stuck.

In college, my boyfriend stocked beer at grocery stores and he would bring home different beer boxes for my kitty. The ONLY boxes kitty would play in were the Yuengling boxes and that's why kitty was named Yuengling.

As a kid I named my clever, sneaky black cat Ninja.

A member on here named his or her kitty Meals. I thought that one was quite cute.

I have one friend who has(together with his partner) "Acidophilus" & "Bifidus."  They were named by their previous owner, whom I assume was a fan of probiotics.

.

Another friend has "Wabi-sabi"(a Japanese philosophy that involves accepting imperfection?  I believe.) and he's named for his kinked tail.

Chairman Mousy Tongue :tongue2: (I saw that one on a chart at the vet's office, lol)

Beau Thai

I have a calico named Jellybean, I'm rather fond of her name (I'm not very imaginative so I rarely come up with good names)

Po (black and white, looks like a panda)

Spot, Rex, Rover, Fifi, etc. (stereotypical dogs' names)

Steve (not sure why I think this one is funny but I do)

Tea (from a toddler trying to say "kitty"----"teee-eee!")

Otter (he was "the other one", morphed into otter)

Dai Jobi (phonetic japanese for "what is it"
My (very basic) Japanese is rusty but I'm pretty sure "what is it" is "nan desu ka" :dk:. I can't think of anything that sounds like dai jobi but daijobu means OK.

I was about to say the same thing.

Daijoubu, 大丈夫, means No Problem, which is a pretty good name for a cat.

There is a cat that goes to the same vet as my cats use called Oide, Japanese for Here Boy.

When we were growing up there was a cat on our street called Peculiar. It really suited him.

I have a cat called Carpet, she looks like a little shag pile on legs.

I once knew a Siamese named If-you ("I am Siamese, if you please.  I am Siamese if you don't please.")  And when we got Pretzel her name was Tres.  As in numero tres, apparently because she had a gimpy leg.
