My cat gets frequently recurring UTIs, due to MRSA, and the urine culture results claim that only nitrofurantoin is effective in treating the infection. (We tried the second best option of clyndamycin once, and it didn't do anything.)
The big problem is that my cat HATES the stuff. When given as a liquid, she refuses to swallow and spits it out. The capsules I was given are too big to put in a pill pocket. Found one online pharmacy that could make it into a treat, but she still didn't like the taste...
(FYI, I live alone, so giving her medicine is extra challenging. She tends to roll on her side as a defensive measure, which is ok for liquids, but I don't think I can pill her this way.)
Has anyone had better luck administering this medicine? The only way I've managed is to board my cat with my vet, but that's expensive and stressful in itself.
