Just brought my Special Tuxedo to the vet for his physical annual.
Everything checked out okay, except for fleas which I wasn't even
aware of until the vet assistant brushed a flea comb through the
hair to check for fleas and sure enough there was flea poop and
the physical evidence of a live flea. Gave him a flea treatment of
Advantage II which I've used before successfully. Fleas are like
gone within 24 hours.
My Question: Is it okay to bring Tuxedo on the grass lawn for
his half hour walk on a leash after the flea treatment. I'm assuming
the fleas are in the grass. He sure does look forward to his
early walks, but if it's going to cause flea issues, then will have
to consider other options.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Tip From The Vet: To check the difference between dirt and
the flea poop. On a paper towel, wet the middle of the paper
towel a little, then put the dark specks of flea poop or dirt
in the wet middle and with a finger begin to rub. If the specks
of flea poop turn red, that's a indication of blood which
confirms that it's flea poop and not dirt and your kitty should
be treated.
