For an up-to-date list, go here.. It is a partial list so not EVERY food is listed.

Nutro have commissioned controlled feeding tests on dogs that resulted in weight loss, deterioration in overall condition and aggressive behaviour. The purpose of the tests was to obtain data to assist in a commercial legal battle with IAMS.

Found here.

They have even tested Nutro for pentobarbital residue and it tested positive.

I emailed Nutro, so I should get a response shortly.

Good Lord, I can not believe what I just read about IAMS/Eukanuba
I guess it is time for me to look for another food. Boy is IAMS going to hear from Amber and I!

Wow. Thanks for the link. This is a fascinating subject. I had no idea that Nutro was doing such unsavory things; especially since they always pride themselves on being natural and humane.

I feed Innova dry and Petguard canned. I was also giving Nutro occasionally as a treat, but maybe I should stop doing that.

The two main ingredients in Innova are chicken and turkey. You never want to see just plain chicken or turkey there. When you have a meal, all of the water, fat, and juices has been extracted from it, so it's pure dense meat. It's much better to have chicken meal, or chicken AND chicken meal. Innova claims to have so much meat in it, but it really doesn't.

Actually the first two ingredients in Innova are Turkey AND Chicken Meal.

Here are the first 10 ingredients:
Turkey, Chicken Meal, Chicken, Potatoes, Egg, Ground Barley, Chicken Fat, Rice, Herring, Sunflower Oil....

So who accused them of "false advertising"? You?

Actually, no. I personally think Innova is a great food! ALL cat foods usually have "chicken" or "turkey" as the first ingredient. But seeing that Innova has meal as the second ingredient, I'm going to have to write a letter to the pet store that told me this.

Please see the thread on Go! Natural pet food which is now in a class action lawsuit over pet deaths from eating this food. This company, Petcurean, also makes Foundation which is listed above. Another person listed the link where you can read about this lawsuit with this company over these deaths. Please read before you buy.

FYI:
Wellness - made by Old Mother Hubbard pet foods - isn't on PETA's list. They say they don't conduct animal testing, but PETA hasn't received confirmation (according to the link below). How accurate the following information is, I don't know. If you care enough, you can email OMH and PETA yourself and ask.

http://mipmup.blogs.com/rdm/boycotting/
excerpt:old mother hubbard (wellness) is not included on our list because it has not assured us in writing that it conducts only humane (as described above) feeding trials. old mother hubbard informed us that it works with several contract labs in order to test its food: summit ridge, kennelwood, and ontario nutrilab. life for animals in laboratories is filled with days, weeks, months, or years of loneliness, suffering, pain, and fear.

Grace gets Natural Balance - she seems to love it.

Yeah, a feed store lady mentioned to me that she did'nt feel Innova (dog food) was a great food for several reasons which contridicted many of the foods she sold in her shop
..... so I took what she said with a grain of salt.
Glad to her Innova was not really accused of false advertising....you had me concerned for a minute there thinking that they had some sort of law suit going on or something.

I tried Purina ONE with my kitties, and found it made Onyx's skin dryness worse, so they are back on Iams and doing wonderfully. Happy cats=happy me

I'm currently trying Natural Balance with my kitties. If they do well on it, they may change over to it from their Eukanuba. I've also tried Chicken Soup but they really didn't seem to like it as much.

They scarfed the Natural Balance! If I stick with that I'm going to have to find another food to rotate with it, because I have to drive 40 minutes one way to get Natural Balance and I won't be able to do that every time they need food.

I remember back in November when I researched various cat foods and their ingredients. I definetely was willing to try another, better food than Purina Cat Chow. The more I compared ingredients to different brands, the more they really seemed to be the same overall as far as having stuff that was considered low quality or fillers. Food quality should always be a priority, but availabilty is also a factor (not to forget price).

My cat loves Purina ONE Chicken and Rice and I believe it's a great product. I'm certain there is a better product out there, but if it's not within driving distance or if it's too expensive, I'm not going to invest in the product.

When I was researching all the different brands, I thought Innova looked like the best food. Their website is very informative, and explains what all the different ingredients are and their sources.

I also liked how they had so much meat and much less carbohydrates than other brands. When I finally ordered some, I liked how the food did not feel greasy, and it didn't smell like sour milk like many other brands do. Innova actually smells good! And I don't mind my kitty's breath after he eats.

Best of all - he loves it.

Currently Summer is on Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care (adult formula). However, I will probably try Natural Balance once the Nutro is gone since I heard it is a better food for kitties, and is the only other one on proven lists (besides Nutro) that is readily available in my area. Obviously Iams and Purina One are available in my area too, but I have not seen either of them listed on non-biased ratings.

Isn't Nutro Natural Choice one that has alot of by-products in it? I used to use this, then read bad stuff about it i.e. fillers, wheat, corn, by-products. Are they ones doing animal testing also? It seems like I saw that somewhere too.

I just started Autumn and Lily on Wellness (I didn't know that it wasn't on Peta's list though!) I found that in just one day, Lily isn't so irritable about being stroked. She usually does the skin flinching thing and turns around to snap at me. She also isn't regurgitating yet (fingers crossed!) As a side, who uses what cat litter? Due to Autumn's asthma, I have switched to "The World's Best Cat litter (the world's most expensive too I think LOL!)I had considered Swheat scoop but an article on asthmatic cats said sometimes wheat or pine based litter can make the asthma worse whereas any minute amount of dust produced by the corn-based litter will not harm cats at all. Autumn took to it pretty well and it seems like an excellent litter. Whatever food and litter helps ease my cats allergies, asthma, and temperments, I am all for it!
