Mia had her spay surgery yesterday and is recovering well. Problem is with her litter. I was asked not to use normal litter and use shredded paper instead. However, the paper gets stuck to her E-collar and she ends up chewing it just to get it out of the way. She has not yet used the litter since she came back home yesterday evening and I want to make sure she both uses the paper litter but also does not end up eating the paper. Suggestions?

My boy continued to use his litter box with clumping litter after he was neutered. It's easier for male cats to bottom out than female cats as the neutered site is nearer to the litter than the females as they squad.
I just paid extra attention when he uses the litter box and wipe off gently if there are litter or litter dust stuck to the surgery site.

I have never had to change the liter for a spay or nuter.  That might be mostly suggested for declawing.  As far as I know.
