We have a calico feral cat we have taken care of for almost 3 years. She has looked pretty beaten up since we started taking care of her, missing teeth, part of her ear, etc.  We have her a cat house which we have a heated blanket for winter, feed her daily and keep fresh water for her.  The last week or so she has not acted quite right. I felt she may have an infection because my wife saw her trying to urinate and nothing would come out plus she has been licking a lot.  She is not eating like normal and sleeping a lot however today when I saw her she was hyperventilating.  I do not know if she is in tremendous pain or having heart failure.  I thought maybe she could be pregnant but really do not think that is what is going on. We have tried to catch her(especially when we first started taking care of her) however she will not go near the cage. Even when we did not feed her for a couple of days and put food in the cage, covered the cage, etc. She is just to smart.  We just hope she is not suffering now.  She has now gone somewhere where we cant see her and do not know if we will ever see her again. We are heartbroken and do not want her to die however even worse if she is going to die do not want her to suffer. We just cant get close to her and there is nothing we can do.  It is a helpless feeling.  We call her Naschi(means snack) because she loved food so much. She is a pretty girl and just do not know what to do.  If anyone has any suggestions we would appreciate it. As I said we have tried almost everything to get close to her, even tried letting her get use to us but the closest we have ever got is about 5 or 6 feet.  We pray she is not suffering and that she gets well.

Hello.   He is very sick with at least feline rhinitis -- a bad infection.   You can lure him into a HAV-A-HEART trap (the local animal shelter usually will rent them out for $10 and return your money when you return the trap) the lure would be the stinkiest tuna you can find deep in the trap on a paper plate.  Put a towel over the trap after he is inside and take him to the vet.

If all else fails, please crush some penicillin or amoxicillin into the tuna or canned food you leave on the porch for him.  Don't take it personally, he is very feral and very afraid and likely has had bad experiences with humans.  We found a bunch of cats under a boardwalk and could not get them, but we laced their raw ground turkey with antibiotics (liquid or pills) and they got better!  They were all running from the eyes and nose.  He is asking for help.  I have been bold enough to have a carrier ready and throw a towel over him and put him in as LAST resort.

I wish I were closer, I live in Pennsylvania.  I have a friend in Georgia.  I can ask her to contact you.  what is your email address?
