I recently adopted a stray female black and white cat approximately 7 months old and had her spayed.  She didn't seem to want to come inside so I figured well she can just be an outside kitty and help cut down our population of rodents and snakes.  She only gets birds, lizards and skinks, all which I love to watch and keep around my home.  Are their any tricks out there to get this kitty to lay off the four-legged reptiles and birds ??  She's a good spirited little girl and I don't want to give her up, but I really need the reptiles and birds to help keep bugs away.

The only way would be to bring her inside. There really isn't a way to teach a cat to specifically hunt a specific prey.

I didn't think so.  She's a sweet girl but I may have to rehome her :(

Is there a reason why you can't bring her inside? Are you feeding her cat food every day? When I had an outdoor feral, he was very well-fed with dry cat food, canned food, and chicken breast, so he never hunted. The birds nested on my front porch and flew around his head, and he never bothered them.  Rather than re-home your kitty, either feed her cat food at least twice daily on a regular basis, or better yet, take her inside.  Some cats will hunt no matter what, so taking her inside would be the best option. I want to add that rodents are able to smell indoor cats and will stay away and not come inside your house. I've lived in my house for 15 years and there's a patch of woods around me, and never once has a rodent entered my house, so if that's your motive for not taking her inside, you should know that her presence inside will keep them away as well. Regarding snakes--I would not want any of my cats to ever have to encounter a snake. Yikes.
