Hello there I'm a new member on this site I'm from the UK, I often read these columns and I have come for all of your help and advice please, I have two male neutered cats of my own ( Alfie and Olaf) and just a couple of weeks ago this little stray appeared and I decided to take her in as I was feeding her for 4 weeks just 1 weeks ago I noticed that she was very round and her nipples are almost bald it's like she's licked all her furr off them and she had had some vaginal discharge for 3 days now I can feel and see her kittens moving around so I'm guessing she is close too labour? I have never had a pregnant cat before so was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are? She will be spayed once the little ones are old enough to be weaned and my male cats will be locked away from her once she has given birth, thank you, and I also called her pebbles she is the cat in my display picture[emoji]128516[/emoji][emoji]128516[/emoji]

What a beautiful and very lucky little cat.  I am NOT one of the resident kitten experts on the forum. but I have noticed that once a question gets one reply, others soon follow!  Just make sure she has plenty to eat, you might think about putting her on kitten food, and maybe a little kmr added.  The additional nutrition will help with milk production.  I can give you that advice with confidence.  One of our more knowledgeable folks will be here soon.  You have a community now.

It sounds like she may be laboring. Have you set up a nest for her?

Yes, the colostrum is normal and licking the fur from the nipple areas is normal also.

Temperature is not always the most reliable indicator, so no need to keep checking it.

Most cats do not go to the nest until ready to push.

oh ok, yeah I wasn't going to cheak her tempature again as she didn't like it and I don't think I would like some one doing that too me either, I can feel her kittens moving and her belly is below her knees poor little thing just looks so fed up, that's good too know hopefully she will go to her nest when she is ready to push then[emoji]128512[/emoji]

And just like that, here comes one of those knowledgeable folks I was telling you about!  If sarthur2 doesn't know it, there is always a good reference for you!

This begins to occur about 1-3 days before kittens are born. [emoji]128571[/emoji]

This is what I do know, and I learned it working in hospitals, in case of emergency, take your OWN pulse first!  Breathe, Darlin.  BREATHE!
