Ok so two days back, my neighbour handed me a feral kitten because i am the cat lady of my neighbourhood. She seems about 2 months. She was very thin but only in two days i have seen her get better. She not only eats meat but drinks milk in good quantity as well.

Now, the thing that confuses me is taht thia kitten is not normal. She is about two months and eats well but she just clings to me or anyone that goes to her. She wants you constantly rub her and when you do she will move around lile a crazy person. Also she plays too (okay this is normal for two months old but) i think ahe has stayed a good amount of time on roads and is it safe to keeo her in my house? What if she has rabies or any other disease? And it goes to other cats? Becauese my home is home for 12 other cats.

I also have given her a bath. Ny dad thinks she does this because she is a kitten seperated from her mom for quite a time. I dont know how long she was on the roads but it looks like it affected her..

Would be waiting for a reply. Thankyou.

The clingy behavior makes me think she is an abandoned pet and not a feral. Rocket was a 3-4 month old feral when I got her (much the same way of someone dumping her on me) and it took a good few weeks until she got used to me and she still hates other humans. That said, I have heard that the younger they are the quicker they adapt to humans so it could just be the kittens personality to crave affection and attention. Especially if the kitten had a lot of kittens around or lost its mom early those could contribute to that behavior. But there are cats out there who want nothing more than to be petted non-stop just like there are cats who would rather you don't touch them unless necessary. It all depends on them.

I am a little worried about the milk comment only because cows milk isn't good for cats. They can't digest it properly; unless you are giving it goats milk or a kitten milk replacement.

You are right to be worried about diseases. If you can, get it tested ASAP for things like FIP and other contagious diseases. It's always a good idea to keep new cats and kittens isolated until you can have them vetted.

This doesn't sound like a feral kitten at all, but a stray or dumped cat. If you bathed her, she's probably free of fleas, but you might want to run a flea comb through her to make sure she doesn't need a dose of Frontline. She may also need a de-wormer. At 2 months of age, she's too young to be spayed or get a rabies vaccine, and it's not wise to test her for FIV (Feline AIDS) yet because young kittens can have a false positive reading, but a trip to the vet to get her checked out and to get her FVRCP vaccination is always a good idea.  It will also give you peace of mind. The chances of her having rabies is next to zero. Rabies is transmitted by wildlife such a raccoon, fox, bat or skunk--and if she'd been attacked by any of these creatures, she would have died.

Can you purchase her a bag of kitten chow? Kittens need food that is high in protein. Milk and meat (not sure if you mean table scraps?) will not keep her healthy. Also it would be great if you could feed her some canned food. Many cats are lactose intolerant, and milk can give the kitten diarrhea, which could lead to serious illness--so it's best not to give her milk right now. Fresh water is best. Also mix a little water with canned food.

There is nothing at all unusual for a young kitten who is separated from its mom and/or human caregiver to be clingy. She's adopted you as her new mom. She recognizes you as her source of food, protection, and affection.

No, by meat i mean boiled chicken / cooked beef. Also the problem where i live is that there are no vets so i will try to comb her and see if she does well. Oh also thank you for your reply. Will care for her and tell you soon.

And clingy is what i meant to some extent. She is restless and will roam ik your feet. She also purrs alot (by a lot i mean all the time)

She does sound like an abandoned or dumped cat, rather than feral.  What a gift you are to her!

I second the kitten food, especially canned.  It has the extra nutrients kittens need.

Thank you so much for helping her.

If you don't have a vet for testing you can give her a few weeks isolation to see if she shows signs of any illness. if she doesn't and you are keeping her you can integrate her in with your other cats. There is always the risk of introducing an illness but if you already have several cats you've been through that uncertainty before. I agree that rabies is unlikely and I don't know how prevalent others are in your area to really judge the risk.

I introduced Rocket to my others without blood testing first because my other two had been exposed to the feral colony she came from. If there was anything in the community they had already been exposed and they are fully vaccinated. So the risk was minimal in my mind. It's all about what you are comfortable with when you can't get the testing in your area.

The behavior really doesn't sound unusual for a bossy kitten. Needy, demanding and fearless is what I am hearing. Your previous kittens might have been more reserved or had other cats/kitten around to get attention from. But the walking around your feet is pretty normal cat behavior when they want you to stop and pay attention.
