Hi, I'm Olivia. I'm a kid( to explain my problem ;0)

I'm looking after my friend's cats, and I noticed one of then ( Thai) is just about ready to give birth. however, my girl ( Oreo) is pregnant too.

they have never met. can they live in harmony if kept in the same room? Thai has always been around other cats but Oreo gets picked on by others.

My mother doesn't think the would but I can't leave Thai alone as she's a first-time mother,  and I was told by my mother that it's best to be there for the first time in case she needs help. Although I have been through many pregnancies and what not, I've never had two at the one time.  these cats have never met.

Thanks!!!

They should be kept separate.  It's far too stressful to do an introduction now.

Hopefully they won't have their kittens at the exact same time.

As said above, its not recommended.  If they were pals, yes it could be tried.  Or at very least, if you know both are very friendly and cat socially minded...  But with delivery nearing this is lotsa of stresses...  Best is to have them separated yes.

IF you are totally desperate, and MUST have them in the same room, you can try to have them in each comfortable cage, each cage arranged as a nice and cozy birthing place...

They arent stupid, usually they do notice a cage is not only a prison sort of, but also a protection from the outside.

You could reinforce this with Feliway diffuser adapter, and perhaps relaxing calming music on.  Or  purring sound on -there are purring on You tube, several hours.

As you are friend to both of them, you talking calming and softly could also downgrade the tensions...

But as said, if you do have ANY practical possibloility to have them separated - ie momms with their kids separated from other cats - do so.   Especielly Oreo whom is picken on by the others, she need extra protection in her difficult days.
