Hello, so my Ollie is a little over 3 months now and sometimes he'll start crying and won't stop. I'm renting right now and my neighbours have one level of the house and I the other with 1 door separating us. One of my neighbours doesn't work so she's home all day and she's kind of noisy so my guess is he wants to see what's going on there. My neighbour has said that sometimes he will sit outside the door and cry almost non stop which breaks my heart but at the same time I don't want my neighbours annoyed. Is there any way to stop this behavior? I've tried ignoring him so that he can learn that he can't always get what he wants when he cries but that hasn't seemed to work. Is it something he'll grow out of? Or is there anything else I can try? I always make sure he has fresh water, enough food, toys, a clean litter box and I always play with him before I leave. I can't seem to find a way to stop it so any help or advice is greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

He's social and needs company.  He doesn't understand why he can't join your neighbor when she is home and you are not.  Have you considered getting him another kitten as a companion?

Regarding 'RedTop' i had a 14 yr.old cat who trained my new Kitty... 14 yr.old past. Kitty cried for his sarragant dad..non-stop. I purchased a younger kitty. He stopped crying for sarraget dad... after i got her, found she was feral... their getting along now, they have their squabbles but they straighten it out... at times I need to step in but not to often any more... make sure the kitten isnt feral.. it's very hard top very neat the kitten even almost after 8months.

I thought about getting him a pal but my landlord won't allow another cat :(

have you tried leaving the TV on quietly but with enough sound to keep him company?

I've been leaving my radio on when I leave and I haven't had any complaints from my neighbour since but we'll see how that goes :)

glad to hear it :)

if that doesn't last, try the TV.  i had one cat who didn't just listen for sounds, but actually loved watching the motion on the TV.  she also would sit on the TV and bat things that were moving in a way that entertained her.
